Antique Victorian Figural two-tone Scissors 1692 Salem Witch Broom Germany RARE!
Absolutely stunning pair of Victorian figural scissors in the shape of a witch riding a broom. Two-toned silver and gold color. Measures 4" and is marked Salem 1692 Registered Germany with a mark in shape of a barrel with a cross and the number 48. The other side is marked only with the number 48. These scissors are in very good condition but not perfect. There is some wear to the metal in several areas on both the witch and on the handles. Most noticeably at the bottom of her skirt on one side, which I attempt to capture in the last photo. The blades are extremely sharp and move nicely on the screw, which is firm. There is some wear or light rust on one blade, which I show in the photo as well. The scissors are marked near the screw. 1776 GERMANY. I can find no other marks. The handles have an ornate leafy design. The tip is sharp as well as the blades. One pair is smaller and has detached tail feathers. Inside the shank is stamped Challeone Cutlery Co. Germany. They measure 3 1/2" long and are in excellent condition with no rust or damage. The longer pair have some discoloration but no rust and they are also in overall nice condition. T hey are 4 1/8" long and are marked Saxonia Cutlery Co. Germany. Both pairs have intact points and cut paper well but could use sharpening. Similar pairs are shown on p. 115 of Gay Ann Rogers' book The Illustrated History of Needlework Tools. From my collection of antique scissors: These may have been Barber scissors. Made by a German company, D. Peres of Solingen Germany that had an eye for business. He made various items of cutlery and usually showed an image recognizable- usually by the growing population of America. This pair of scissors depicts the White House on one side and the Capitol building on the other. They are tight and cut paper and hair(I can't find any fabric that wants to be cut. They measure just over 6" long and are made of steel. The shiny surface has worn off on the handles. Probably from the early 1900s. We ship only to US LOCATIONS. Thanks for looking.

Marked William Friedrichs(probably German made) high quality, smooth cutting action, but light, 1920s I think, surface is irregular on the exterior tip of one blade. not sure if that is bad forging or cleaned up rust.

Antique or vintage German stork scissors for embroidery. In good condition. They are sharp and will cut. But the screw is a little loose. There is a hallmark or maker's name on the inside of one of the handles but I have been unable to decipher. Approximately 3 1/2" long X 1 1/2" wide. Please see photographs for item condition.
