A quite lovely vintage French chalkware figure of St. Anthony of Padua. St Anthony is probably one of the best loved saints and is known as the finder of lost articles. I think every busy home should have a St Anthony somewhere! He could be the answer for all those odd socks. Approx 10 inches- 25 cms in height. The base is approx. 2.5 x 2.5 inches- 6 x 6 cms. A fabulous size for display or devotional use. All original gilding on the book edge and collar and sash of the young Jesus. Nicely worn and good slightly faded gentle look. There is a crack line running around the waist area. I'm fairly sure this is a firing shrinkage mould fault rather than a break. There are light scuffs. There is a golden yellow dress that has a chalice IHS and a cross. There are a few areas of discoloration on the satin like material. A few pull marks as well as in the lace around the dress. The statue has a few chips in the crown on the front, side and back. The Infant has a few chips in his hair in the back There is a small chip in the blue globe to the side and near where the cross sits. A small chip in the grass near his feet. This is a well-used and loved. And cared for, Virgin Mary with the Immaculate Heart, it is ChalkWare or Plaster and is hand painted in what I would say is"Tempra" but I am not an artist, wonderful detale in the eyes, the heart with its flame was gold and red but touching it as part of a religious ritual has worn away a lot of it. This has an interesting story. It is basically a"santos" saint) that came out of a New Mexico home. It was in a niche(a place in the wall where you can put statues in the hall or room) It looks like they put this in long after it was painted, it was purchased directly out of the niche) as to make it fit the shallow frame of the niche, they cut off part of the front and part of the back of the base round support and painted it with something different bu tried to match the blue. I have absolutely ... moreno idea why the silver leafe is at her feet, it had to be a family reason, I can tell it was added AFTER the green paint as one part of the leaf is loose. Of course there are some chips and worn spots but this lady has survived a very long time. I do know the"199" on the back is some kind of a mold mark but I know nothing else about it. Vintage chalkware statue of Saint Patrick. 8" tall. Some chipping on base by his foot, small chip on his finger that's holding bible, teeny one on his nose.The back of this figure is flat, and it has 2 metal points that were clipped off, I think it was originally mounted on a plaque or something. It now has buttons glued over the holes. I does stand up fine.

Vintage chalkware of Irish Catholic St Therese in a shadowbox. The structure is sound. But you can see old repairs. 10.5 inches wide. 3.5 inches deep. 22.5 inches tall. St Therese is chalkware and is firmly attached. I do not know a date this was made, nor the country this was made. This does have areas of missing paint. The bottom if the cross she holds is missing the edge.
