DESCRIPTION& CONDITION In this auction is an unusual gold and silvertone brooch with a monkey eating bananas in a tree! I received this in a lot of vintage and modern jewelry- I listed it as modern to be on the safe side. But it's stamped MJ on the back and might be an older piece? I can't say for sure, so please take a close look at the photos to judge ... morefor yourself. It measures about 1 3/4 inches tall and 1 1/2 inches wide(the treetop) and has a loop so that you can hang it from a chain as a necklace. I put almost every piece of jewelry I get secondhand in a quick soak with dish soap to get off any dirt. Strange smells or sticker residue, but the pieces may require a more thorough cleaning. As for the wear to this, the front doesn't really seem to have any issues but maybe a bit of light scuffing or discoloration. The back, however, has what looks like a copper-ish rust or discoloration of sorts in the grooves. I'm not sure if that is easily cleanable, but it's really not noticeable when worn. I can't vouch for its life before me. But my home is smoke-free. I've tried to photograph it to the best of my abilities. So please take a close look at each one! They are part of the description. It has the designs of a Buescher with the base protector and the flower designs around the front engraved"Lyon& Healy American Professional Chicago" The serial Number is 63552 and the arch of the serial number also shows its a Buescher stencil. Considering its 93 years old, it's amazing these are still around, let alone be in the condition that this one is in.
