She resisted being ... morecalled a furniture designer and self-deprecatingly described her furniture designs as“architectural fill-ins” for the gaps around the designs of other designers in the Knoll catalog like Harry Bertoia. Eero Saarinen, Mies Van Der Rohe, Isamu Noguchi etc. Yet the designs themselves have proven her wrong. Beyond the overall form and her leather pull handles. Which are a very well thought out softening of the“touch-points” of the design, this model credenza is quite variable. It was available with a wood, linoleum, or marble top. The legs were either chrome steel, black steel, wooded legs, or even no legs as a floating wall mount. The doors were wood, or white lacquer. The only standard internal components were the pair of shelves, and beyond that they could be specified with a bay of drawers, a file drawer bay, or a bay with pull-out electronics tray for a Dictaphone(the electronic voice recorded of the day, which recorded 15 minutes of speech onto a single use vinyl belt) This particular specimen has a very well balanced mixture of the variables. With a beautiful walnut case and walnut bypass doors, chrome steel legs, and all three optional bays(stack of drawers, hanging file drawer, and electronics tray) The interior is all oak. The drawers in the stack are all solid oak fronts and sides, with dovetail construction. They also have built in drawer stops, so you can’t accidentally pull the drawer all the way out and drop it. The hanging file drawer has metal slides to bear the extra weight. The pull-out electronics tray also has metal slides and the bay has a hole for cords. All the extra space in the bays has holes for the shelf hanger clips, so the pair of shelves can be re-arranged to match your needs. IMPORTANT RARE JEAN DUNAND ART DECO SIDEBOARD
Offered is a rare sideboard designed by Jean Dunand[c.1935] It was created as a specially commisioned piece for Camille Bourjois[France] I have the complete provenance which is available upon request. It is branded on the backside"Jean Dunand" It is made of brushed oak and is comprised of two large doors that conceals three adjustable shelves and a small drawer. The dimensions are 77" wide x 20" deep x 47" high. The body of the sideboard is set upon a detachable base consisting of splayed legs. The piece is in very good condition. Tidewater Virginia Child Size Sideboard Circa 1850 Original Finish Inset Panel
A very small possibly child size handmade sideboard from the Tidewater area of Virginia. It only measures 33 3/4 inches at top of backsplash. Top is only 28 inches off the floor. 14 1/2 inches x 27 1/2 at top. Interior is 12 inches deep on bottom shelf and 11 1/2 inches deep on middle shelf. Handles appear to be carved and have no attachment bolts so I am unsure how they are attached. The drawer is dove tailed front and back with raised panel bottom. It was used for paint storage at one time so there are paint remnant to interior of drawer. Both handles are tight and free of damage. The backsplash is attached with 2 slotted screws that look original. 2 front doors have inset panels with a lock and escutcheon in good condition. No key unfortunately. Interior has a hook and left door has eye for closure. Interesting side note: interior bottom ... morehas 2 tin patches around legs for blocking entrance from the critters. Unsure of the type wood but I wood guess Pine. In very good condition with a very old if not original finish that has Alligatored in areas. Another interesting feature on this I did not notice at first is the front corner edges are rounded. Perhaps for protecting small children from harm. I have not seen this before. Believe to date from the 1840-1860 time Reid because of the type of construction. No damage to note but is being sold as is with local pick up or delivery for small fee to within 100 miles of Mathews county Virginia. Magnificent! Very old wonderful door pull. Please see the photos of the back. I cleaned a small spot that showed copper. I scraped along the edge and it looks like it could be either be solid or plated with copper. I did not want to go further so as to leave it up to the buyer to clean it. There are layers of old paint or varnish on the front. This is truly a fab piece. On the back is signed RHco and MORTAIN. It measures 15 1/2 in long x 3 1/2 w. This fabulous English oak solid wood sideboard is 2 sections- top and bottom. The bottom has 4 drawers and 3 cupboards- the 2 center drawers are bowed. The cupboard side doors are single and center cupboard is a double door. It features a bowed carved front between the drawers and the center compartment- center cupboard is open up into that bowed area. Original brass"butterfly" hardware with a stylized design- one broken handle on bottom center door. The top section features 3 beveled mirrors and 4 shelves supported by carved columns. There is a sunflower motif on the pediment top center along with multiple carved flowers and leaf designs all over the front. Scrolls along the very top and sides. You are bidding on a Circa 1860( this was from an appraisal we had done in 1983 available on request) American style sideboard. As you can see from the pictures it has in-layed woods with beautiful detail. Over all its in fair condition. There are scratches. Some areas where the inlay has come unglued or chipped, a few of the legs have been broking during moves and have been repaired and braced. Some of the lock hardware will need to be replace. Beautiful and well preserved sideboard buffet. Red/Brown Marble with not cracks or chips. There are ink stains in the upper drawers. But this is part of its history and character. Skeleton key lock in perfect working order. The detail if the spindles and the upper hand carved piece are exquisite. The marble is approximately 1/4 inch thick and is recessed into the top. It is flush with the top. This piece is solid wood and doesn't appear to have been refinished or altered from it original state. The exact date of this piece is unknown. Rare C19th Antique Victorian Mahogany Shop Fitting Counter Sideboard Dresser
Here we have for offer a fine Victorian mahogany sideboard which was originally a shop fitting for the Gardiner& Lacey Chemists shop in Norfolk. This beautiful sideboard of inverted breakfront design has a moulded edge top over three frieze drawers and raised on twin pedestals with arched fielded panel doors raised on a plinth base. The drawers and cupboard doors have been ornately decorated in the shops name along with the many items they sold. The sideboard is in good condition for age and comes in three parts for transportation. Save one. i own one a tiny bit better maybe and it is unlikely that it is ever for sale in my lifetime. i am also an antique so one never knows when they may cross the bar. at any rate, the previous owner has toyed with selling this piece for the last 5 years or so and i told my picker if he ever sold it i would buy it. the fella that picks for me is paranoid and will never disclose names or locations, like he is afraid i will cut him out someway. anyway, i don't drive anymore out of the county so he should know i won't be going anywhere. anyway, everything is a big secret with martin. i have no history on the piece but there are a few things i can tell you. it is as good or better than any horner piece i own, and i have several, or have ... moreever owned, and that has been hundreds. the piece was made by berkey and gay and is signed in the top drawer. it is made of the finest quartersawn oak that could be had in the day. the top shelf which is not pictured so you can ascertain the flake is absolutely wonderful. the carving is masterfully done, no detail is left undone. the lion heads at the top are huge and life like and curl down to support the second shelf and come to rest on a very large paw that rests on the top of the sideboard. the doors are carved to death with one large lion head in the center and two smaller ones below the large center head located at 4 and 8 p.m. it is so busy you have to look to actually make them out but they are there and extremely well done. it has large lion heads on either side of the base that are above one of the largest and finest claw feet i have ever seen on a piece of furniture. it has a large cupid head in the center of the top of the thick molded support for the top. i think i measured the cupid at 7 inches wide. it has two large beveled mirror which appear to be original enclosed with very fine carved moldings. i could go on and on, but it is carved, molded, and fluted everyw

Very large antique buffet/sideboard with carved fruit. The dimensions are about 88" high x 61" wide x 22" deep. There are three drawers and three doors with locks and key, all work fine. I believe the wood is oak, and there is some tiger striping as can be seen in the pictures. It's in good shape for it's age, there is some chipping of the veneer at the bottom and the marble is chipped on each end and there is a crack toward the center(you can see this in the pictures) Local pickup only.

CIRCA 1870'S ANTIQUE FLAME MAHOGANY SIDEBOARD CABINET STYLE OF ADAM REVIVAL
Here is an absolutely spectacular find from an old Charleston family estate auction and in very nice condition for it's age. a circa 1870's in the Style of Adams Revival(part of the Regency Revival movement from 1880 to 1920) when the expanding middle class became attracted to the light and elegant designs. As a contrast to the heavier and more cluttered interiors which had dominated their homes during the second half of the 19th century. Typical of Style of Adam pieces, this sideboard has Classical Roman decorative motifs, such as framed medallions, urns and floral swags. This delightful sideboard incorporated beautiful flame mahogany and crotch mahogany veneers into the absolutely perfect mantle across the back and the front door panels. I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, ... morequality, condition, construction and overall beauty of this special old piece but pictures just don't do it justice. The felt lined divided buffet drawer and the overall trim and feet being in such generally good condition on an old sideboard like this. This marvelous 19th century sideboard stands 4 8 1/2 inches tall to the top of the mantle. With a top surface height of 39 inches tall. It is 66 inches long and measures 26 inches front to back at the protruding serpentine front center cabinet and 22 inches front to back along the side cabinets. There is a large center drawer 27 inches wide by 20 inches front to back by 5 1/4 inches deep. In the left side facing cabinet there is a felt lined divided buffet drawer 12 inches wide by 17 inches front to back by 3 inches deep. We are pleased to offer to the market this stunning antique English cabinet. The maker of this piece is unknown to us. We believe it to be from the late 1800's. A beautiful. Unique and functional piece the attributes of this are numerous. This is made from rosewood and veneer. The gallery top boasts a beautiful marble slab in amazing condition. Above the gallery there is a cabinet with glass doors. The doors have a pretty bell flower with ribbon& bow motif painted on them. This matches the inlaid motif on the base doors. There is an oval shaped beveled mirror between the doors. This has a key for the upper doors and they do lock. Beneath the cabinet doors the backsplash has a larger beveled mirror. The mirror is flanked by shelves mounted on columns with brass accenting. The base section of this has a single drawer above two doors ... morethat open to reveal additional storage space. The drawer has dove tail seams. The drawer has a lock but we do not have the key and the key that locks the upper doors does not work on this lock. There is a faux lock mechanism on the bottom doors as well. With no lock mechanism inside. This is strictly decorative and not functional. The upper and lower lock areas all have brass hardware on them. Overall measurements: Height = 76.75" Width = 40.5" Depth = 21 1/8" Top cabinet area: Depth = 10.5" height of top shelf = 8.5" height of bottom shelf = 8 1/8" Bottom cabinet area: Depth = 17" height of top shelf = 11.5" height of bottom shelf = 14" There are age and use appropriate scratches& dings on this. Beautiful American Antique New York 1800s R J Horner Carved Oak Sideboard Base
Here is an absolutely fabulous 19th century RJ HORNER New York USA made sideboard buffet base. You can see three small holes on top at the back where a mirrored top was probably attached. I bought this as a base only and had it refinished over 30 years ago-it was a dark mess and the wood grain wasn't visible otherwise I would have left it original. I wanted to see the glorious oak grain and everyone that has seen it over the decades has mentioned what an awesome piece it is. The carving is magnificent-hairy feet. Faces, shells, florals-fantastic quality. The drawers in the center are still there and usable, though could probably use some TLC to get them back to their best-there is a small chip in a corner and chain that holds it open needs some work. There are a couple of minor scuffs-one on top and one on lower side-captured in photos, ... moreand a couple of scratches on the top-tried to photograph. The bottom drawer sticks out-since last move 25 years ago. The nose of a center face has been flattened somewhat-again-with last move. One handle on left drawer is not rounded-may have had a piece off-has been that way since I bought it over 30 years ago. There is some minor denting around key locks-no key available. There may be another flaw,but I don't see them-but again this beauty is way over 100 years old. The back is fully intact-solid. Weighs a ton-built to last forever.
