OK.Here is a RARE find! A Sunderland salt dish paired with a Sunderland shaker. Both are difficult to find on their own and I have never seen them as a set. They are both in very good condition especially considering their age. No visible damage. A tiny indentation in the rim of the shaker. That is all that I see. The shaker is missing a cork underneath. Vintage '40s Iridescent Lusterware Salt/Peppers, Art Deco Style, Made in Japan
This lovely pair of shakers dates to the 1930s or early'40s and are classic Art Deco shape. They measure 3" tall x 1 1/2" wide. They are porcelain with a metallic glaze that gives the appearance of iridescence. A technique that produces what is called Lusterware. The bottoms are marked Made in Japan. The color is a pale tangerine orange or gold with a light blue top. They are in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or blemishes. They have cork stoppers, and as you can see in the last photo, the shaker on the right has had paper added around the cork, no doubt for a secure fit. We didn't try to pull it out. Who knows? There may be something exciting written on that paper. I clearly remember an identical pair from my early childhood in the 1940s, which always graced my Grandmother's dining table. Beautiful Lusterware salt and pepper shakers. Vintage tiny Kingfish Bird S& P older shaker with original Box. Box has one flap up. Shakers are 1 1/2" tall and 2" long. No chips. Dings or cracks. Corks seem in great condition. Both are stamped on bottom Japan, however messy. The box is also stamped with numbers and MADE IN JAPAN. This is a Vintage Japanese Takito TT Lusterware Set from the 1930's that has been carefully stored away for many years. It is a set of Puppy Salt& Pepper Shakers(cork stoppers are missing from bottom) and a 3-piece Puppy condiment jar. The tongue serves as a spoon. I did notice on the very tip of the spoon what appears to be a small chip. The Puppy face of the condiment jar had been broken and repaired years ago in 3 places(see pictures) The bottom salt& pepper set says Made in Japan. The condiment jar says Hand Paint.
