Sad" is an old word for solid/dense/heavy. Blacksmiths started forging simple flat irons in the late Middle Ages. Plain metal irons were heated by a fire or on a stove. Unfortunately. Standard length(37.75 inch 5 iron) Standard Lie(61 degree 5 iron) and standard lofts(47 degree PW) I used these club about half of the 2012 season. Probably have 25 rounds on them or so. Not abused. No major dings or dents, just standard bag chatter that you get with forged irons. I can bent the lies and lofts to whatever you desire before I ship them out to you. 6'0'' Andy Irons Model HIC
This is a barely used Andy Irons model from his HIC days. I uses it 4 maybe 5 times so it has just about nothin wrong with it. Minor pressure dent right above the track pad. Other than that this board in in top shape. Great short board for good surf. This is a set of Vintage MacGregor Jack Nicklaus Muirfield irons. The set is made up of 3-P. As you can see from the pictures they are still in the original box and packaging. The original plastic protective stickers are still on the faces also. There are some light scratches on the back of some of the irons that appear to be from moving around inside the box. The scra tches are the most prevalent on the 3. 4, and 7, but there are also very light scratches on the 6 and 8. I am not sure what caused the s pot on the back of the 7 which can be seen close up in one of the pics. I tried to show th ese scratches as accurately as possible in the pictures. As you can see the box is not in great s hape. Having gotten wet and having som e small puncture holes in it. But it is the original box. Vintage Cast Iron Solid and HEAVY Fireplace Irons Tools With Stand NICE
These REALLY look like brass. But a magnet sticks to everything, so I am assuming it is cast iron. They are at least from the 70's, because they were in my Mothers house for at least that long. They are very heavy, and solid. Of course, there is some slight surface rust and signs of age, but no damage or abuse to call. I think they will clean up beautifully! The poker is a little bent, but nothing that cannot be straightened if it bothered you. The stand's handle unscrews, from the base, so I will separate it for shipping. That should just about do it! 3 Antique Red Handle Small Sad Irons, Childs Toy Old Miniature Kitchen Utensil
Up for auction are three very cute and collectable small Antique red wooden handled Sad Irons(2 Dovers) between 80 to 100 years old. You don't normally see one of these old little irons for sale in this good of condition. Let alone three. They do all have areas of corrosion, but not bad, especially compared to others you see being auctioned. These would make great additions to any collection. While I used"Childs" in the title. Many people believe these small irons were used for collars and tight areas where the bulky big irons would prove clumsy to use. The red ruler in the second picture is only 6" L. not including the sharpener. While these are little they are heavy and cost a little more to ship, but you're still saving by getting three at the same time. Following are their descriptions: The smallest is a Dover and ... moreis just 3 1/2" L X 2 1/8" H. It has"DOVER U.S.A. embossed within a diamond on the top of the iron. The iron probably has 75 to 80%+ of its original gold finish. Whils the handle has 95%+ of the enamel red paint(which is exceptional. The second is a Sleeve iron and is only 4" L. X 2 7/8" H. It has"DOVER No. 902 SAD IRON" Embossed on the iron. The wooden handle has about 85 to 90% of its enamel red paint. While it appears the ends of the handle are lightly burned. It is actually just where the red has worn away to expose the black base coat. The sleeve is in good condition and probably has 85+% of the original metal finish. The last looks more like the irons we are used to. Its 4" L. X 3 1/2" H. It has no markings that I can see. Its wooden handle has 90+% of the red paint. The sheet metal top has probably 90 to 95% of the original metal finish. The last picture shows a hole at the back which may indicate this could have been an early electric. Julius Boros won 2 U.S. Open Major Championships in 1952 and 1963, and another Major win with the PGA Championship in 1968. These irons were supplied to Julius as part of his Wilson Staff contract in 1970 and were the irons he used on tour at that point. The number of years that he used these irons I do not have the specifics to say, but there is a reasonable likelyhood that these are the irons he used when he won his Major on the senior tour- The 1971 PGA Seniors' Championship. My dad had this rare set of irons for more than 30 years and they would truely make a treasured addition to any fine golf collection.
