This is an original vintage wood carved Buddha sculpture. Exact age and origin unknown to me. It was an estate sale purchase. Probably not too old primitive carving of the sitting Buddha. 11 1/4" high(plus red top piece) and 8" wide. Fairly light weight hand carved and painted wood. The Buddha was adorned with the two prettiest little necklaces and I hated to remove them to sell seperatly. They're perfect for the figure. The smaller one seems to be tiny glass beads*flowers*leaves*birds on tiny brass links. The larger necklace is brass beads*enameled porcelain beads*and what feels like plastic but is probably orange glass beads. Both the necklaces look quite old and too short for an adult to wear. Vintage Chinese Carved Faces Peach Pit Seed Mala Heidao Prayer Beaded Necklace
This auction is for a finely made and unique. Hand carved mala bead necklace, that was made in China during the early 1900's. This strand measures 29" long and each bead is around 1" in length and 1/2" in width. This strand is simply knotted on one end and can be slipped over the head to be worn as is. This piece is unique. Each bead has been carved by hand out of a peach pit. The heads are very realistic with lots of detail even at the sides and ears of the beads. There are a few beads with thin cracks. I have included pictures of cracks. The peach pits have a fresh looking surface with a nice sheen and crisp detail to the carving that doesn't have any dulling or surface wear and enhances the detail and character in the carvings. Each head is different with lots of character. Some have mustaches some don't, some ... morehave defined and toothy smiles, and some even have earrings. The strand as is- is very secure and solid without any gaps or loosening to the strand. Overall this is a finely made and unique, hand carved mala bead necklace, that was made in China during the early 1900's that is in Excellent condition. Unique Art Deco Antique Hand Carved Floral Off White Beaded Necklace
Description Circa late teens early 20’s a unique art deco beaded necklace with hand carved beads. I am not sure what the beads are carved from but it does look like bone. Shell or maybe a soap stone, but it is a different kind of material. The beads look sort of floral but not really, please look at the pictures and you will know what I mean. The larger beads are hollow to a point and the small beads only have the carvings and not the whole way through and have a screw together bullet style clasp which looks like it is made out of the same material as the beads. Unmarked in very good condition for the age of it, there are some chips but honestly they are barely noticeable due to the carvings of the beads and might need a slight cleaning. I am not certain if this is even“Revival” It might actually be very old Egyptian jewelry. The Revival period was especially popular in the 1920’s Art Deco era. The necklace has a very primitive look, it has no clasp, and it has a string used as the threading. The necklace is made of what I believe are either old pottery or natural stones. Some of the beads look like terra cotta, there are matte black beads, white/sandy cream beads, and green/blue turquoise beads. All of these beads are matte and have no shine and they look“natural” in appearance. Intermittently there are bright, shiny carnelian red beads that I also believe ... moreare natural stones that have been polished. In between the beading are a series of primitive“scarabs” or beetles or abstract forms that have carved lines. These have a blue cast to them as well that has a bit of shine. The main pendant is obviously a carved scarab beetle with scratched lettering on the reverse. This beetle has a bright blue Faience glaze on the top that is also shiny. All the beading appears to be complete and the design is symmetrical on both sides. This does look to be quite old; however it might have been made to“look old” and was sold as a tourist piece. I have had jewelry items like this before, and this does look to be older in my opinion. If this were to be worn, I would suggest restringing it since the string is made of cotton. This would be gorgeous as a display item! The necklace measures approx. 24 inches in total length and the center pendant measures approx. 1 ¼ inches long by itself. Vintage Antique Chinese Faux Ivory Carved Beaded Necklace w/ Large Medallion
This is a nice vintage antique Chinese faux ivory carved beaded necklace with a large relief carved medallion with woman and floral decoration. In pretty nice shape as the pics show with some minor wear like that shown with the medallion portion having a couple of cracks and comes exactly as shown. Most of the beads are around 3/8" in diameter. The two obviously larger ones are 3/4" in diameter, the strand is approximately 28" long and the medallion is 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" and is about 1/2" deep. From my mothers estate. This is a vintage jade beaded and hand carved ox bone necklace and pendant. My mother had it re-strung and had a gold plated new clasp put on it. I am not sure of its age. My mother was from the Philippines and had many jade pieces. Most were inherited. Some she purchased. This one, I know that she had re-strung, so I believe she inherited it. The pendant, and two larger beads are hand carved ox bone. The pendant is absolutely beautiful! It is a dragon and Phoenix. The large ox bone beads look to be flowers to me.
