Some of the beads have lines like mold marks, but they are not uniform; some are closer to the bottom of the bead, not the center. The beads are irregular in size. Some are more squat, longer, ect. I wish I had more information/history on this necklace. I did rub Simichrome on the beads and did not get a positive test for Bakelite. They could be celluloid. FABULOSO, BLACK CARVED BAKELITE FRAME, FINELY BEADED PURSE with FRINGE, FLAPPER

This is one of the nicest pieces like this I have seen in a long time. It is a total of 14 inches in length. It is 8 inches across. There is little I could find wrong with this iece. Not to say I didn't spot a missing bead or something. But I could find no missing beads, I could find no missing fringe. The lining is intact with a hanging little mirror. The bakelite is fabulous with the carved floral closure and frame. If anything is wrong, the frame does not close entirely snugly, with ever so slight a seperation. This is due to the fact that the hinges are not inset or flush with the frame, so this cannot be considered a flaw. There is a small"lozenge" of a matte ... morefinish on each side of the top of the frame where the closure piece covers one portion, and catty corner on the other portion of the frame. This is also porbably be in the making as these 1/2 inch sections match in size and shape and again, I am only mentioning them as there is so little to mention about this bag. Here is a great antique music box for your buying consideration. Recently acquired it at an auction. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself! The music box was made by an unknown company(most likely of Swiss origination) Probably from the 1880s to 1890s. Have been all over the case and no notation of the maker on the case or the music box movement. The music box has a great case on it. Great wood carving of and urn scrolling and birds on the top of the case. Some minor warpage to the top which is securely attached to the case by its' hinges. Great wood beading around all four sides of the top as well. Cannot say if the top is original to the case or not. Case is made of wood and is intact. ... moreNice double row impress rectangle on the front of the case as well. Very interesting how the top sits above the base a little. My guess is to allow for the music to not be as muffled when playing with the top down. Also the top sits over the edge of the wood case by 7/8" on each side. Again. Very unique from other music boxes I have come across over the years. There is a brass key hole on the front of the case and the lock is in place. No key comes with this music box. The case does need some attention to bring it back to its' original beauty. I see no cracks, splits or repairs to the case. No paper label of the tunes the music box plays came with the piece. The inside door over the music movement is still there and has the glass in it. The movement itself looks good and appears to all be there. The music box winds but does not play. So. The spring is sound. Cannot say if the repeat and change and play and stop levers are operational or not. There are 7 teeth missing on the comb. The music box is not in running condition. This mask is from the Bakota Tribe in Ghana. It is beautifully inset with beads and brass. The Bakota Tribe believes in reincarnation and therefore the rounder and more radiant the mask.
