Beads are embellishing the neck. Cuffs and bottom hem. This evening is a cross between a 30's style and 80's. The top has shoulder pads. A loose fit, and over lap the skirt part which give that 30's look. The bottom part of the skirt is made of two overlapping layers cut in square shapes. Which creates triangles in the bottom part. See picture with penny for size comparison. Strand Length, 26 inches(including string/raffia) Additional information: Aja" beads were made in Venice(and altered in Africa? in the early 1900s. These were made from drawn tubes of glass which were then cooled and cut into small slices. Once cut. The slices of drawn cane were then exposed to heat until the glass softened(slumped) ... morethe beads flattened somewhat, and their hard cut edges also softened and rounded. There seems to be no Venetian sample cards showing these slumped slices as ever being sold from Venice although the cane they were made of certainly was. Based on this, some experts speculate the slumping process was done in Africa while others think this process was done in Venice when the beads were made. Few of the original Venetian Bead Makers sample cards still exist today) These beads have a range of sizes, colors and canes. For sale is a vintage 3 strand glass beads necklace. All of the beads appear to be hand made. As are all a bit different. The smallest chain will make a necklace length of 18" to 19.5" Necklace weighs 3.5 oz. No markings that I can find, but notice the violin body charm at the end of the chain. All of the rhinestones in the T-bars are still present. A very unique piece, with the orange and black beads, clear round beads that each have an air bubble inside them, brown faceted aurora borealis beads and various sizes of the round brown swirl beads. Listed for auction is an old vintage African necklace which is cord-strung with round. Bicone, hairpipe and donut bovine cow bone beads. The bicone spacer beads are dyed black. The donut beads are dyed reddish purple. The necklace has a hook and eye closure. The donut beads measure 20mm in diameter. The largest round bead measures 15mm in diameter; the smallest 5mm. The hairpipe beads measure 25mm in length. The wearable length of the necklace is 11 1/2" The necklace weighs 79 grams. Many of the beads have natural surface imperfections. Vintage Gothic Victorian/Art Deco Necklace black glass beads-bronze plaque-35"
Description: This is incredibly unusual. Here is a Victorian/Art Deco Gothic bronze/copper( plaque with images of parrots, birds and a gothic face(similar to something you would see on the outside of Historic English buildings& churches) The rest of the necklace is made up of large and small black facetted French jet glass beads ending with 3 large drops. Measures 11 1/2" from clasp to bronze plaque(total 23" Plaque is 2 1/2" long, middle drop measures a further 2 1/4" Overall length when closed is 17 1/2" 34" overall) from clasp to the bottom of the middle drop. Linked together with metal wire with a metal push in clasp. Condition is good. Minor nibbles/scratches to black beads, doesn't show when worn, excellent for age. Dates between victorian and 1920's. The reverse of the plaque is much darker ... morebronze patina than the picture shows.
