This necklace is three strands of cut glass beads that are attached to a front silvertone marcasite pendant and to two crossbars in the back of the necklace. The necklace measures 24 1/4" long and secures with a polished silvertone insert clasp. The swirled beads are 1/2" in diameter, the silvertone spacer beads are 5/16" in diameter. The bracelet is strung on a stretchy cord so it would fit just about any wrist size. The beads on this are a little larger. The swirled beads are 5/8" in diameter, the silvertone beads are 3/8" in diameter. Very striking color combination! It is adorned with black glass beads that alternate between pine cone shapes and round shapes. Perhaps used as a mourning piece. In Victorian times the pine cone symbolized regeneration and enlightenment. The pins the beads are on are steel. They attract to a magnet and so does the larger painted hook clasp with the worn black paint. There are some rust spots on some areas. One of the photos shows 2 large clasps in one photo. Fancy Vtg 1940's Celanese / Acrylic Frame Evening Bag / Purse Black Glass Beads
Reduced Price! Was 99.00 This is a beautiful purse! Designer evening bag from the 1940's features an amber frame made of a type of lucite called Celanese plastic. This handbag is in excellent condition and can be used even after all these years. I have only found one other handbag with this same type of Celanese plastic frame. And it is on a lizard skin bag selling for over 600.00 on Ebay. The only distraction from perfect condition is the corners of the frame on one side show stress marks inside the acrylic-but NO CHIPS. Someone probably hit this side on a hard surface and it caused the stress marks but there is no loss of durability. No breaks whatsoever. It is still solid and sturdy. This type of frame apparently will not chip. The inside and outside of the bag are clean and look like the bag has not been used.
