With a total length of 24" when opened this necklace hangs 12" long. The beads are in great condition. Only two have a tiny chip in them hard to notice without close examination. 12 of the beads on the necklace are actually Plastic, I am guessing this was done to keep weight down.The plastic beads are as follows; the 2 beads on either side of the center beads and the fifth bead down from the clasp(not counting metal spacers) which is an odd shaped bead and the one just above it. The necklace is unsigned but the earrings are marked Western Germany which makes me wonder if the previous owner purchased them separately. Rare (4) Antique Black Glass or Jet Faceted Dome Beads In-Mold Maker Mark
This is a set of(4) black glass antique garment beads. They were salvaged from a vintage belt or trim that was dissintergrating. I have researched and was unable to find anything about the in-mold maker mark. It appears to be in calligraphy. Which makes them very old. Please view my photos for more details. The mold mark looks like a'T' F' or'J' or maybe even a'3' There is cross hatching also, and in-mold guide lines leading from the holes on one side of the bead to the other to keep the threads from slipping. They are oval with a domed faceted top. They measure approx. 7/8" x 9/16" with a center rise of approx. 3/16" I have included a photo of the garment piece that the beads originally came from. There are a further three crystals which are just as stunning and larger. The necklace is silver tone with links with black round beads. It is 20cms long with a further 5cms if required. Antique 1800s Civil War Era Copper Black Powder Shot Flask ~ Leaves Beads Design
No Reserve! This is a very nice antique powder flask with fluted shape and leaf designs. The flask is made of copper with a brass neck and cap. I was told it dates to the Civil War period. But whether it was used in that conflict I cannot say. At any rate, it's an attractive old flask. It measures 8-1/2" long and the body is just over 3-1/4" wide at the widest point. There is some wear to the finish. But no dents or dings that I could find. There is a newer screw in the brass top and the cap is missing. All in all. A very nice old flask. GORGEOUS, Near MINT Condition Presented for Auction: Our best rarest strand of Victorian era Venetian opaque black glass trade beads. With red white and yellow sworled patterns in each and all matching, each bead is 1 inch in length. All beads are in near pristine condition showing only slight signs of wear along their edges where they have rubbed somewhat. They are in spectacular condition overall for their age. And this is reflected in the opening minimum bid. This wonderful strand is the very best item in a large lot of antique Victorian era trade beads we have which all date to the late 1800s early 1900s and were acquired over 40 years ago from a trade bead collector. They were put away in storage and we have recently decided to put them up for auction. ... moreThe strand is still on it's original ropey twine and it measures about 12 1/2" doubled and 25" in length if it were stretched out flat. There are 16 beads in this strand and each bead is valued at about $18 to $24.00 each if they were sold separately. They are much more valuable intact on their original tribal strand, of course. This strand of beads needs to go to an established bead collector as they will appreciate over time and are an excellent investment item. They could be worn of course, but over time this would ruin the appreciating value of this strand. It should go right back into batted cotton and into storage for another 10-20 years, at which time they will be worth more than $1000 usd at a minimum. Note: I have looked for years for another strand of African trade beads in this exact color and style and have never found another strand like them. The closest similarity I have found is either"Lewis and Clark" style trade beads or"French Ambassador" trade beads.
