In this auction I am offering an antique beaded evening bag which originally belonged to my grandmother. She was born in 1895) While the bag is not marked. I believe the bag was made in France, simply because all her other beaded bags have markings shoeing they were made in France. The bag is white. The beaded background appears to be spotless and damage free. It has floral embroidery on both sides. It has a gold tone brassy frame. There are small faux pearls on the strap. The clasp is snug and the hinges are fine. The inside of the bag is cream color satin. It has a faint water( mark and 2 age spots on the inside. There is a very small pocket inside. When viewed under a magnifying glass. It appears that there might be some beads missing. Blue and green beads with some purple and yellow beads scattered in the purse. Has flowers on the front and back. I see no damage. has a snake like metal chain handle. Measures 8 inches across and 6 inches tall without the handle. This is purse is heavier than it looks-due to all the beading front and back and sides. It has a basic pattern of small black beads, with what appear to be even smaller beads forming a beautiful floral pattern. The frame is a wonderful gold color, in pristine shape, with enamel floral adornments across the top, and clusters of lighter colored beads. All appear to be in great shape, almost unused. The satin interior is a lovely golden hue, in great shape, with tags saying Handmade in France. It measures 7 inches high, and 8 3/4 inches across, with a 5 1/4 inch drop in the handle.
