This is a lot of 2 old purses. First is a 1940s hand beaded purse with metal top frame and chain handle. Satin inside has desintagrated but outside is in good shape. Is coming loose from metal frame in places. Comes with a photo copy of a letter dated 1942 that was stored in purse. The letter is from a Captain in the Signal Corp stationed in India. I don't know whether he sent it to her from there or she put the letter in later. I several of her other purses he sent her and it doesn't appear as though she used them and left whatever she got with the item inside. The letter has some great information about how India was back in 1942. He calls her Tarzan. In very good condition for its age. Some beads have come off and will be sent with the purse. Vintage art deco ivory coloured glass beaded purse with a gold tone clasp and chain. Outside of purse is in excellent condition. Has a remarkable glass beaded design with faux pearls. Not missing any beads. But there is 1 pulled thread on the purse(shown in 2nd photo) An easy fix for me, but wanted it to be known that is what is wrong with the outside. No stains one the outside either(inside is stained, it shows through in photos but not in person) The inside is a different story, it is a little beaten up. Everything is still intact, but the sating lining is stained. Maybe from makeup? Clasp works properly. Opens easily but closes firmly enough to keep the contents from spilling out. Antique Black Glass Beaded Drawstring Purse With Silver Chain
Satisfy your Dowton Abbey fantasies with this beautiful black beaded purse with silver drawstring chain closure. The chain appears to be silver although I have not tried to polish the metal. One filigree bead and one is missing. The soft mesh-like body of the bag is covered in a series of vertical stripes made up of strands of black glass beads. The lining is a muted purple silk hand stitched around the collar of the bag. There are a few loose threads and the inevitable losses. But the bag is in remarkably good condition, the beadwork pattern makes it difficult to notice any missing strands. An easy replacement if deemed necessary. 8" wide at base x 6 1/2" tall tapered to 4 1/2" top. Nice weight and fluid movement. This bag will see you to many elegant events if used with care. For the benefit of the animals. Up for sale is a Vintage White Sequined& Beaded with Goldtone Chain and Clasp- Handmade in the Crown Colony of Hong Kong. This bag is in very good condition, very clean except for one area on the inside with a marking which might just come off. This shows in one of the pictures. It measures 9 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches long. The large sequins are irredescent like which makes it sparkle. All items are donations received at our thrift store. VINTAGE UNIQUE BLACK VELVET BEADED HAMMERED HINGED METAL JEWELED PURSE CHAIN
I don't know the age of this purse. But have found it very unique and beautiful! I have never seen anything like this opening. I got the purse at an estate sale and there was no information that came with it, so I will do my best to describe it. The purse measures 7.5" x 5" It is Black Velvet with what I believe are glass black beads that are embroider on the front. From what I can see. There are a few of these beads missing, I can count stitches and see 16 approx. where there should be beads. This is at the bottom of the purse, looking straight on, on the lower right side. this is hardly noticeable to me, didn't myself notice they weren't there until looking closely. The top of the purse is made of hammered metal, which also has raised decorations of flowers, swirls and jewels. The metal could have been pressed with ... morethe decorations, for the inside is indented where the decorations are. I don't know if the jewels are real, but will tell you the color by the type of jewel I believe them to be. There are two topaz jewels(orange) 1/2" x 1/4" and 4 jade(dark green) that are very tiny, One on each side of the topaz about 1/2" apart. In the middle of the metal top of the purse there is a hinge, and again on the outside edges, a hinge, so when you open the purse it looks square! This I have found so unique, and got me to purchase it) There is a kiss closer on the very top with a 12" chain for carrying. Each link in the chain measures 1/4" and where this chain connects to the purse, looks to be nails that are bent over, because you can see points that bend to the hinge. The purse is lined, with very shear purple fabric however, the lining is coming apart. see my pictures, I completely turned the purse inside out, just to show how bad. I have not done anything to clean this purse or to try and fix the lining at all. The lining could all be there just coming apart from stitching. And coming undone from the metal top. You can see that the velvet was hand sewn to the metal.
