PIKE POLE END HOOK FIRE AND RESCUE FIREMAN CAST IRON 9 1/2 INCHES NEEDS POLE
I found this at a recent barn sale in Lebanon. NJ. It is a wonderful end to a pike pole used for fighting fires. At first I thought it may have been used to pull large fish onto a boat but later realized it is what I mentioned earlier. It is a very nice and I believe rare find. It has four holes for placement onto a pole. As you can see in the third photo. It s marked with a P. The cast iron is heavy and has a nice blueish grey patina. There is just a slight bit of rust. It has been cleaned inside and out. This is an excellent piece for the collector of fire fighting pieces. Size: 9 1/2 inches long and a 1 1/4 opening for a pole. Wonderful vintage Santa face wrought iron doorstop-wonderful painted face with red hat decorated with green holly leaves and red berries. Some paint chips commensurate with age. Some rust evident on the left side of the bottom. great beard shows a little under the cap, pink cheeks, painted eyes. small chips on left eyebrow-he really has a wonderful face. Base consists of two prongs which sit squarely on the floor; one has a hole which may be used to secure it in place. Iron is smooth and in very good condition. This is a very beautiful old piece of Limoges by Gerard Dufraisseix& Abbot. Circa 1900-41 as the mark is found in the'Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges' book. It is covered with tiny. Delicate little rose colored and very tiny blue forget-me not flowers and sponged in gold over raised relief on each handle and along the inside border rim. The condition is good with the only issue being some minor gold loss on the handles. This was sponged on, so there was not a real heavy amount of gold there to begin with. Very pretty piece.
