For auction is a pair of crystal vases made by Fostoria. The tops of the vases have a ribbed pattern with a slightly flared top and a thumbprint pattern that surrounds the bulbous base. The vases measure approximately 4 3/4 inches tall. 2 1/4 inches in diameter at the top rim and 2 1/4 inches in diameter at the bottom. Set of 2 Chinese inside hand painted octagonal faceted heavy crystal glass vases
Set of 2 vases 8 1/2 inches tall. I listed these as Chinese. Only because the research I found indicated this was a Chinese art form. I can't read the calligraphy and signature. If you know more about these vases and can read the calligraphy, I would be happy to hear from you. I don't know when these vases were made, but my guess would be mid 1900's. Wikipedia says: Inner painting( 内画; 內畫; nèihuà) Also known as inner drawing or inside painted. Is a form. It involves glass bottles which have pictures and often painted on the inside surface of the glass. The bottles are produced by manipulating a specialized through the neck of the bottle. Inside-painted bottles are associated with Chinese. The earliest inside painted bottles are thought to have been made in the period between 1820 and 1830 as. By then, the beauty of a ... moresnuff bottle was probably more important than utilitarian considerations—and considering this—few would have been used for holding. To paint the inside of the bottle. The artist must paint backwards. Concentration is crucial to make precise strokes. A skilled artist may complete a simple bottle in a week while something special may take a month or more. The best craftsmen will produce only a few bottles in a year. These two vases are octagonal faceted in heavy crystal. One vase is a picture of blossoms. The other is a detailed city and river scene. The details are just incredible and the artistry masterful. Mostly what I have found on the internet refers to snuff bottles used to contain powdered tobacco. These appear to me to be vases, more like a bud vase, however I don't think anyone would want to risk damaging the painting by putting anything inside. No evidence of anything being held in these gorgeous vases.

My mother passed away a few years ago. We were very close and although devastated. I was in charge of carrying out her will and her wishes. My brothers and I divided what was important to us in the estate and I was in charge of auctioning the rest. Vintage Cambridge Crystal Double Arm Candle Holder with epergne vases
VERY RARE TO FIND WITH EPERGNE VASES INCLUDED! Vintage Cambridge Arm centerpiece arrangement with two epergne vases. The arm is called the#663 Vase Holder Arm which has two open rings for holding epergne vases and one tulip shaped candle holder in the center. It has a peg base for inserting into a candlestick base. This was made in two different sizes and this is the larger of the two. The vases are called#3779 Epergne Vase. This elegant Cambridge design was produced from 1940 until 1958. They show the original Old Silver finish plating in excellent condition as well as the high quality metalwork. The bottoms and the interiors still have the gold gilding in perfect condition. The two bigger vases are marked with the blue Gorham sticker stating W. Germany; the other three are not now but I'm sure they were initially.
