This lovely sculpture was crafted using the lost wax method. It rests on a black marble base. It is signed Moreau. Many people wonder what it takes to get a finished bronze piece of art or other bronze object. Here is the process the way we do it at European Bronze. Original Art The beginning of the process starts with something to represent what the customer wants as a finished piece. It can be a clay model as in the illustration above. It can be a sculpted or molded wooden model. Something done in metal, something done in wax or any other material that you want to use to begin the process. This becomes the model for the final piece. Making the Mold Molds can be simple or complex depending on the original art. After determine how best to make a mold or molds. We take the original like the one in the previous photograph and create the mold using a silicone material. The original art is placed on a bed of clay(the red material in the photo) When the clay is smooth at the parting point of the mold, liquid silicone is brushed onto the model and the clay as the man is doing above. All coats are done by hand to insure that all the details of the original will show in the final cast. The Mother Mold Because the silicone is flexible. It needs a backup shell to hold it firmly in place. When the silicone has dried thoroughly, a plaster"Mother Mold" strengthened with fibers is created over it. Here a

The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold. First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. Please Read Entire Listing Before You Bid. I am auctioning This American Bronze Confidence solid bronze sculpture By Auguste Moreau. This sculpture is 21 1/2" tall on a marble base. I believe it was made by the American bronze co. but it is not marked by them. It is signed Aug Moreau. Dated 1890 and copy right. This is a very nice heavy piece at 70 lbs. It is a older piece as I have had it for about 12 yrs. Insurance is included in S& H.
