They have been verified by a couple of sources such as the Harvard Art Museums Archives Research Team. They are sculptured wax seals made by the Vatican Museum and may depict Peter's Miracle of the fish. Or Charon's boat, or the Navicella they come from an early-Christian source. They originated at the Vatican Museum in Rome Ita ly. They each weigh app rox. 1 lb each and measure 3 5/8 x 2 x 1 5/8 each. They look identical when you fi rst look at them but after stud y they each have differences. Some t y pe of sculpting material. This is an unfinished project: a Cairns 5A(no impact liner) Fire Helmet. Yellow and White, with a custom hand painted helmet front, Chaplain” S.F.F.D. with chinstrap loops and chin strap. The yellow helmet has two quarters of the crown painted white. Identical to the SFFD Truck Company helmets. There is the beginning of gold on the ribs of the crown. It is a size 7 ¼-7 ¾ Large adjustable; Nomex chin strap(non-SFFD) hanging d-ring. This helmet was not completed. Nor issued, and was not worn by the SFFD Chaplain. There is no Bourkes. However, the holes are there with Bourke screws and nuts. With the beginning of Conclave in the coming weeks, I thought it was time it found a better home. Oh. And the two other helmets are not for sale; just had them in for the family shot. Lastly. For you Cairns experts, it is a Series“O” as indicated ... moreon the crown decal. As noted. The helmet front has“Chaplain” and“S.F.F.D. in gold, with the Vatican Seal or Coat of Arms, consistent with the seal used by the Roman Catholic Church also referred to as the Holy See. There is AMAZING hand-drawn floral filigree-like scroll design on this lacquered certificate of an" Apostolic Blessing" of a named couple's Silver Jubilee Anniversary in November 1963 with Vatican seal(see photos) This was issued the initial year Pope Paul VI took the reigns of the papacy. The hand-written calligraphy writing requests that the Pope bless the named couple's marriage. I believe it is signed by Pope Paul VI with written message in what maybe Latin. Offered as is. Pope Blessed INNOCENT XI 1676 - 1689 Papal Bulla Bolla Lead Seal Vatican Rome
This auction is for a genuine authentic Papal lead seal. Also known as a bolla or bulla or bullae, which was made and used by the Vatican State during the Papacy of Pope Innocent XI between 1676 and 1689. This lead seal is a wonderful historical relic of over 325 years old. Since at least the 12th century official Papal documents carried a seal. Usually made of lead, with the heads of the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul depicted on one side, designated by the letters SPA SPE(Sanctus Paulus and Sanctus Petrus) and the Pope’s name in Latin on the other side. The seal was attached to an official vellum church document by cords made of hemp or silk that were looped through slits in the document. The presence of the lead seal served to verify the authenticity of the document. This auction is for one of these lead seals or bollas. Which was ... moremade and used between 1676 and 1689. This seal is black in color, and measures approximately 1 1/4" in diameter. It is in excellent solid condition with no breaks or cracks. Please see the photos for further information on condition. The"Veil of Veronica" or"Holy Face" Preserved in Rome since the time of Emperor Tiberius(1st Century) and venerated since the 8th Century in St. Peter's Basilica. According to the legend, Veronica was a pious woman from Jerusalem who encountered Christ on His way to Calvary and, full of compassion, used her veil to clean His face from sweat and blood. When she took it back, His Most Holy Face appeared miraculously on the cloth! Next to the Turin Shroud, the"Veronica" is another image of Christ"not created by human hands" inspiring Christian iconography until today. Veronica's encounter became a regular station on the Way of the Cross, and even today, once a year, pilgrims receive a blessing with the most holy relic in St. Peter's on Passion Sunday. It is kept in a special chapel in one of ... morethe four main pillars of St. Peter. In the 19th century, the veneration of the Holy Face was propagated by Pope Pius IX and, among others, St. Therese de Lisieux, who took the name"Therese of the Infant Jesus and the Holy Face" This was caused by a miracle. During the revolution of 1849, when the Pope had to flee to Gaeto, Pius IX ordered the Holy Veil to be publicly exposed between the feasts of Christmas and Epiphany. On the 3rd day of the exposition, the face of Our Lord on the cloth became clearly visible and appeared to be alive, surrounded by a soft light. The Canons of St. Peter immediately rung the bells, and crowds of people came to watch the 3 hours long manifestation. But I was told, translated, the title is HOLY FACE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. THE TRUE EFFIGIES. This is framed and has 2 wax seals. Frame has wear. The Holy Face of Jesus from the image of VERONICA'S VEIL. The Veil is kept in in ST.PETERS BASILICA in Rome. This measures roughly 14" x 22" with the frame.
