WORLDS DISPENSARY SERIES BOOK! This olde book bears a fancy cover design and verbage. Boasting it's from the World's Dispensary Medical Association of Buffalo NY and even a London Branch. Dated 1894 it's Part II Chronic Deseases of the Digestive Organs. It's 136 pages covers treatment and causes of the diseases, however I see it more as a promotional tool for a Dr. Pierce's familiar Remedies which are mentioned through out. This includes his'Pleasant Pellets' and his bottles of'Golden Medical Discovery' There's a 40 page section of Testimonials from persons(includes photos or drawings of them) who claim to have been cured by using the good Doctor's remedies! Claims from curing headaches to tumors! There's also a section about the"Invalids Hotel" started in 1870) which says it's ... morenot a hospital but a pleasant remedial home exclusively devoted to the treatment of all chronic diseases. It's actually a part of their Buffalo institute! Soft cover book is in very nice condition for it's antique age. It's divided into several sections. As well as the Pleasant Pellets shown below, there were Dr Pierce’s Anuric Tablets, Dr Pierce’s Favorite Prescription, Dr Pierce’s Vaginal Tablets, Dr Pierce’s Extract of Smart-Weed and Dr Pierce’s Golden Medical Discovery– a licorice-flavoured tonic that reportedly contained quinine, opium and alcohol and was advertised as giving men“an appetite like a cow-boy’s and the digestion of an ostrich. Pierce ran an opulent hotel for invalids. The first incarnation of which burnt down in 1881. The rebuilt hotel is said to have included among its guests the Sundance Kid and Etta Place in 1901.
