Wow I hate to sell this thing. What a kooky. Crazy cool piece of medical equipment. Seems to work exactly as intended. I was dumb enough to put it near my skin and sure enough little electrical impulses jumped from the machine to my arm. It comes on and the purple light runs up the tubes. It shows 6 electrodes in the instructions but there is only the throat electrode and the comb electrode included. I don't think they were ever 6 electrodes in this set because there is only 1 missing hole which would be for the general electrode. This thing is crazy cool I love it. Rare GERMAN RADIOSOL Quack Medicine Violet Ray Device w/14 glass wands & case
Please see my photos and read about shipping and handling. You are bidding on a RARE Antique Electrical Quack Medical VIOLET RAY Device called RADIOSOL. It was made in GERMANY. IT IS IN WORKING CONDITION. And in its original case. There are 2 metal hollow rods, and 14 glass wands, all of which are UNUSUAL, and are intact and working. They produce a violet color, with an electrical sting and sound, when held to the skin. The small wand with two metal ends, sits in the holder loosely, but does produce an orange color. Included in the wands is the RARE Ozone Inhalator wand in 3 pieces. The top piece is attached to the one below it, with a rubber hose which has cracked from age, but the glass pieces are intact. Also the cork wrap around at the middle piece is split and taped. There are 16 metal clips in the case that hold the wands. Three of ... morethe clips have one side broken off, but I have the pieces, and perhaps they can be spot soldered. There also is a small piece of paper with German words, and a little 1" gass tube, see photo 4. The electrical box is all intact and works well, with 110 or 220 volts.The cords are good. The holder for the wand is in very good condition.The inside of the case has its original felt covering, and partitions. The case itself is sturdy, but does show wear and useage, SEE PHOTOS. The handle is missing, but the two clips work well. The case measures approx. 13 3/4" in width, 9 3/4" in depth, and approx. 4 1/4" in height. For sale is a Working Vintage Violet Rays Violetta Electrotherapy quack machine by Bleadon-Dun Co. The item comes with 3 different glass electrodes and they all work. The item is very old and there is some wear on the power cord. So use it at your own risk. The wood case is missing the leather handle and the box has a few nicks, scrapes and gouges giving it an old rustic look as can be seen in the photos. The lining in the case looks like it was coming loose, so someone tacked it down with several tacks. I bought this item at an estate sale, so item is sold as is. For the most part it appears to be in very good shape but it appears that it may be incomplete. In my photos you see 5 glass tube attachments( one of these is broken) I believe originally there were 6 glass attachments. Please see my photos for total inventory of parts. Other things may be missing. The blue lightbulb glass is mostly unattached from it's threads. Vintage example of early 1900's quack electroshock therapy device. We did turn on this device and when the lights were off the glass glowed purple. A little scary to use on your body since it started to cause my cell to go haywire. Box is in stressed condition with corners ripped. A typical violet ray device consisted of an ungrounded electrical control box that controlled the interrupter and which housed the magneto coil. And an attached bakelite or other handle housing which contained the high voltage coil and an insertion port for attachments. Working Antique Violet Ray Wand Machine With 2 Attachments 1920's Quack Medicine Great old viloet ray machine with two attachments. We tested both and they both worked. We had a good ol time giving everyone in the family a little shock. You just plug it in and turn the knob on the bottom until it comes on. These date to around the 1920's and were considered a cure all and used on a number of ailments including pain relief. Arthritis, and they even made claims it helped build muscles and grow long luxurious hair. As you can see this is in rough shape. It's kind of filthy and looks like it was exposed to mold at some point. The case it's in has a lot wear and the wand itself has wear. The cord is a bit weak and has some cracking although it's still flexible. I think a little clean up would do this wonders. Great addition ... moreto any weird sceince or old medical collection! 1922 Model M RENULIFE VIOLET RAY Quack Medical Machine with 6 Electrodes
RENULIFE VIOLET RAY GENERATOR. Are the inside ribbon markings, on this vintage used QUACK MEDICAL DEVICE from Renulife Electric Co. in Detroit, Mich. about 1922. Based on the catalog image. And description, this is their Model M"substantial all-around outfit for general use" The sturdy case has a black leatherette covering and is velvet lined. ~ The 6 Electrodes(in THIS unit) do not exactly match those in the catalog, but are#2 RAKE COMB, 3 METAL SATURATOR, 16 SINGLE EYE, 1 GENERAL BODY, 18 CONDENSOR ELECTRODE and#14 FULGURATHION. I removed the mahogany top plate. To clean the box with the simple electrical components underneath(see my last two photos) Inside were some expected signs of arcing, but the wiring seemed to be complete. ~ After plugging the device in, and turning the switch on, the vibration was heard, and faint violet ... morelight appeared in each of the 5 GLASS electrodes. ~ The METAL electode produced a tiny ELECTRIC SHOCK when put near my hand. ~ Also INCLUDED are a 32-page illustrated catalog, a 10-page treatment chart, a 1920 printed guarantee, two"Inspected" tags, dated 1922, and a 6-page brochure(with mailing envelope) dated 1922. This paper ephemera has toning, creases, and tears, but appears to be complete. The machine is in a case and comes with one glass attachment for the black hand piece. The cords and plugs all appear to be in good condition. The hand piece looks good.
