Vintage Antique Quackery Quack Medicine Medical Electro Electric shock machine
This is a strange old piece of"medical" quackery. I don't know much about it other than it was in my parents basement and they are cleaning things out like the many late 1800's and early 1900's blueprints I had for sale and the glass negatives. The man who used to live there had several strange things like this that we are finally getting around to selling. My dad said this actually works. Or at least gets current through it, but we don't really know what it does. There are no markings with a name that I can see. The front of the box has a pretty scrolled silver lock(that works) and the box opens up to see the handles with the electric cords and the knobs and whatnot. Vintage Antique Phrenology Psychiatry Quack Medical Shock Device VERY RARE
Here is a VERY rare phrenology device. I have only seen one other one of these and it was in a museum. I have never seen one on eBay. You probably will never have an opportunity to purchase one of these again. It is totally complete except for the key(to lock the box) The batteries are original and quite rare themselves. The batteries have very little power left in them. So the device will not work with the original batteries hooked up. I did build a battery pack that would mimic the original batteries to see if the unit worked. It did. It operated flawlessly. With heavy spine wear, some edge damage, paper loss and staining. The cover has nearly detached from the rest of the booklet, as it has torn along the spine. Vintage Master Violet Ray Quack Antique Medical Device Shock Therapy -EC
Vintage example of early 1900's quack electroshock therapy device. We did turn on this device and when the lights were off the glass glowed purple. A little scary to use on your body since it started to cause my cell to go haywire. Box is in stressed condition with corners ripped. A typical violet ray device consisted of an ungrounded electrical control box that controlled the interrupter and which housed the magneto coil. And an attached bakelite or other handle housing which contained the high voltage coil and an insertion port for attachments. Handblown Glass evacuated tubes of varying shapes and for different therapeutic uses could be inserted into the bakelite handle to apply the resulting current to different parts of the body. The hardcover instruction book is dated 1938, and is illustrated with drawings and black and white photos. Up for auction is this fascinating VINTAGE MEDICAL"QUACK" INSTRUMENT called A FARADIC CURRENT MACHINE. This very unusual and expensive device was found in doctor's offices as well as the general population. I would place this machine in the early 1900's. This device was used to cure a whole raft of diseases which included Acne. Malaria, Baldness, loss of voice, blood disorders, and Asthma just to name a few. I don't know if it is complete or if it works. The electircal cord is very old and ragged. It does come with the original instruction book that is over 70 pages long and looks to be complete. The book is called, FARADIC HINTS" THE FARADIC CURRENT IN THE TREATMENT OF DISEASE. It comes with the original box which weighs about 10 lbs.

There are two switches, one on either side, of the magneto? in the center of the top. What is here is in excellent condition. The two tubes have electrical tape holding them to the cloth bound wires. Offered is this vintage bone handled quack medicine bleeder or early surgical knife. It measures 2 5\8 by 1\2 inches when closed and 3 11\16 when opened. The blade pivots all the way thru as you can see by the last photo there is no stop so it doesnt handle well. It is undamaged other than the bit of rust on the blade and the name carved on both sides that is partially worn away as pictured. There is some faint markings in the center of the handle on the side that only has a W carved in it but they are so faint. Not Working- For parts or repair Comes with a rake and Y attachments/ bulbs This violet ray previously worked for me without issue; Both the rake and Y bulb worked fine(lit up violet. Sparked, etc) However. The old, rather frayed power cord got hung up and was accidentally ripped from the unit. I attempted a repair by taking the unit apart and soldering a new power cord in place. But I was never able to get it to work. Now it just a very low hum when powered on and does not light up the bulbs. The case is intact but in poor condition. If you have any questions. Please ask.

Master Medical Unit Model 9-1 This is a working unit. I tested it and had the glass piece that is for it but while taking these pictures i bumped it into a cabinet. And well. Its glass and it broke. it did put off a nice bright violet light that really shocks the heck out of me. It felt like getting a tattoo. Appears to be in very good condition for its age. it comes in it's original box.

Up for auction is a VINTAGE"VIOLETTA OZONE GENERATOR" MEDICAL INSTRUMENT WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX. This"quack" device was used by doctors and was found in many homes in the 1920's and into the early 1940's. It was used for the treatment for just about everything including hives. Loss of hair, arthritis, rheumatism, pain of any kind, etc,etc.etc. The instrument is in excellent condition and is working and seems to be complete. The cord looks almost brand new. When pluged in and the glass tube is inserted, the tube gives off a violet color that"cures all" Included is an original pamphlet describing the device and some of the electrodes that were available. This is a heavy instrument so the shipping may be a little on the expensive side.

This beautiful vintage Master Violet Ray machine came to me in excellent condition and works flawlessly. Originally it came with only one glass electrode. I am including a second glass electrode which makes it a really nice set. I added photos of the the internal components so the prospective bidder can see the exceptional condition of this machine. I purchase and overhall all kinds of vintage violet ray devices. Frequently a device will show signs of overheating. This is because at some point in it's life. The unit was operated for too long a period. This type of abuse can damage the internal capacitor and the high frequency, high voltage tesla coil inside. When these critical components get damaged by overheating, it can limit a machines life and/or cause it to operate at substandard performance. Vintage Quack Medicine Spitali Low Tension Muscle Stimulator Medical Device
This is a Vintage Spitali model SP-1 Low Tension Muscle Stimulator. It is built into it's own blonde wood case. There are various settings for intensity and pulse rate as well as a timer and options for pulsating. Surge, or tetanizing. I assume it works because when I plugged it in and turned it on, the yellow light near the top came on, and when I changed the setting to"Surge" the light went off and on intermittently. It came to me as the base unit only, without attachments, so I have no way to test for sure if it delivers any electric shock. The handle of the case and the knobs are made of an early plastic, possibly Bakelite. The exterior of the case has minor rubs and dings as would be expected from use. The wooden box appears to be oak and is is reasonably good condition with scuff marks. Worn areas and some split seams. The latches and hardware have some rust on them. Violet Ray High Frequency And A Manual I have not tested this item. The adjustment knob near the cord does not move freely and I do not want to force something this old. Somebody that know about electronics should inspect this item before using it. There is a sound when the item is moved from end to end(tipped from end to end) To me it sounds like a small piece of plastic is moving around inside. This means that I have not tested this item. The case is an indicator of just how nice this unit is. This item looks to me like it is almost Brand New. I do not know if it has been restored or is completely original. The cord looks very nice and as far as I can tell. The case and unit look completely original. I am not an expert on this type of item. Estate sale find. This machine is pretty cool. To bad I don't know what it was used for.The only thing I can see this doing is controlling the amount of voltage output. Shock treatment anyone? The glass top is beveled and not cracked. The machine is 21" long x 14" wide x 11" tall and sits on a rolling stand that is 25" long x 18" wide and 24" tall. The casters need new rubber. There are plugs on the left side for Low voltage, Medium voltage and High voltage. Plus one that says it's an Indifferent Terminal. Like it doesn't care if you get shocked to death. The gauge is a Milliamperes 0-4000. It also has a foot switch on the right side for reasons unknown.
