From what i could find. This is an electro therapy machine maybe from before 1940. It was hard to find exact info. The auction labeled it as an arthritis relief machine. It was manufactured by Chas. Antique Shock Therapy Machine with Original Columbia Dry Cell Batteries 1910
An antique portable shock therapy machine with original 1910 Columbia Dry Cell batteries. This piece dates between 1910 and 1920 and was available to the general public at department stores and local smaller shops for treatment of many different ailments though it was not effective as many thought it gives a section of history and instruments known as quake medicine. This particular machine is made of Oak and has wonderful finger jointed corners there is a brass carrying handle and 2 hooks that hold sections together there is a separate box with 3 compartments for storage of the batteries that has red straps to hold down batteries. The directions are on top section when opened and there is a storage bin to hold all parts when transporting or storing. The batteries are Columbia Dry Cell batteries no.6 Pat. 1910 and I believe are original there ... moreare many batteries out there that look like this but these are very early examples that were made only 10 years after Columbia started producing batteries. Columbia which eventually became Energizer made these batteries for everything from medical devices to automobiles. Kind of a scary notion being hooked up to your car battery haha. The machine itself is in excellent shape and all wires appear to be good not dried out I believe this machine will actually work if hooked up to new battery I was not brave enough to test and I do not recommend but if buyer does try let me know how it turns out. This set is so rare to find all original with original power cells and is an excellent display and conversation piece. It shows model V434, and the instructions call it a series T Fischersine sine wave electric machine. Looks like all cords and attachments are the including the power cord. RARE ANTIQUE J. NEFF PHILA. MAGNETO-ELECTRIC QUACK MEDICINE MACHINE ~ EARLY MODEL ~ PRE 1850 A wonderful rare Magneto Electric Quack Medicine Machine from the early to mid 1800's. This model was later marked W.C. J. Neff on 3 1/2 S. Seventh St. Philada. I believe this model is prior to the company's merger. This machine is marked on the leather band. Manufactored by J. Jeff No. 622 Cherry St. Philada. The company was listed in Philadelphia as a manufacturer. The machine sits on it's original dark wood base. The base shows the original hardware which appears to be all hand made. This wonderful antique machine has all of it's original paint. The leather still has some of the gold gilt lettering intact. It does obviously have some wear and tear as it is an authentic antique. The brass parts are all tarnished or show an aged patina. ... moreThe middle of the leather covered tube has an iron rod that does come out. Here's an old electro-shock therapy device. A"New No. 4 D.D. Home Medical Apparatus. Beautiful Mahogany box, the sponge on the electrode is still spongy, near complete outfit including the foot plate electrode. Considering it's age, it's great condition, there's a hole at the bottom chrome battery tube from oxidation(see photos) At the end of the 19th century electricity was new and mysterious. People were sold on the idea that it could cure most any ailment. Several different companies made these type of devices, J. H. Bunnell in NYC and Pilling, in Philly to name a couple. Rare Vintage General Electric Color Scope Machine Medical Color Light Therapy I picked this rare device up about a year ago a local rummage sale& I have done research online to try to learn more about it. But have never been able to find another one like it online. The machine is a General Electric Color Scope(Catalog number 9070037G 2. Made in USA, Schnectnady, NY) Circa 1940's-1950's. The machine appears to be a vintage medical color light therapy machine, based on the principal that colored light can be used to treat& alter the subtle energies associated with the mind& body, thus healing any mental& physical conditions. The machine displays colored lights that can be adjusted with the knobs on the side& altered(made duller or brighter. The white knob changes the bands along the colored area to either white or ... moregray. The colors can be displayed individually or together. The three colors are Magenta. Green& Blue. An Off/On toggle switch is next to each colored dial& the dial intensifies the amount of color you see. It measures 12" wide by 11.5" deep and stands approx. 11" tall, including the deco handle. It's about the size of a vintage typewriter case. The housing is gray steel, with a glass screen. The 6th photo shows the interior of the machine, with the back removed& all three toggle switches turned on. It is in good working& cosmetic condition. Complete& unaltered. With original knobs, handle, switches& cord. No damage or repairs. Some minor rubs to the finish on the steel case. All colors& adjusting knobs work fine. The tiny set screws around the back of the case are missing, but the back stays on without them. The machine is fairly heavy.
