ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN QUACK DOCTOR MEDICAL SHOCK MACHINE. The case is made from mahogany with brass fittings. The machine is in excellent condition and comes with all its equipment. There is a compartment for the equipment to be stored away. I have not been able to test the machine as I do not have a battery. I assume it should work because it is in great condition. Antique Quack Medical Dinshah Spectro-Chrome Color Therapy Projector
This machine was invented and patented by Dinshah P. Bhadiali who produced these color therapy machines in the 1920s. He believed that it cured many different ailments including cancer. He believed by shooting different color lights at certain spots the people could be cured. This machine is excellent working condition. All of the color lenses and clear lenses are intact and still operational. The 1.000 watt bulb still also works. The outer box made of heavy aluminum with some wear in some areas. The cord in frayed and may have to be replaced.

They were made with different metals that promised to create a healing electrical current when pressed against your skin. This is a pretty scarce Western Electric apparatus. This is a short wave radio Diathermy medical device. This has some age to it and it looks late 40's to early 50's to me. Somehow. This dude takes short wave radio waves and it creates deep, penetrating heat(quack medicine at it's finest, although these are still in use today) I plugged this in and it lit up and I am pretty sure it still works. This thing is compact at 16" x 16" x 11" and must weight at least 40 pounds. The case is built like a tank and has a drawer that the two heating pads and cords are stored in it. The case has a couple of scuffs, but is well built and in good shape. The lid is removable and the wood back is held in place by four screws. Antique Quack Medical Induction Coil Shock Electropathic Instrument
Up for bids today is what I believe to be an antique Quack Medical Induction Coil device. Perhaps used for"electropathic shock" therapy in the 1930's or prior. There are no identifying marks on this item, but the base is made of wood and the top plate that everything is mounted on is perhaps bakelite, but I am not sure. The dimensions of the piece are 9.75" x 11" and about 3" tall at the highest point. As you can see in the photos, there is some wear, and a small tear in the material that is wrapped around the coil. The induction coil, from what I've read, is for the purposes of applying high voltage, low current to the body. The adjustable rod(second to the last photo) varies the intensity of the shock. Wow I hate to sell this thing. What a kooky. Crazy cool piece of medical equipment. Seems to work exactly as intended. I was dumb enough to put it near my skin and sure enough little electrical impulses jumped from the machine to my arm. It comes on and the purple light runs up the tubes. It shows 6 electrodes in the instructions but there is only the throat electrode and the comb electrode included. I don't think they were ever 6 electrodes in this set because there is only 1 missing hole which would be for the general electrode. This thing is crazy cool I love it. Up for auction here today is a no 4 D.D. Home medical apparatus. I bought this from a estate sale a few years back for a 100.00 and I am just trying to recoup some of my money. It is missing quite a few different things to actually be considered complete. What it comes with is pictured in the above photographs. And what it is missing is outlined in the condition description. If you are missing a few parts to make yours complete. Or are looking for a box that is in decent shape then this could be the item for you. A couple of good points to mention about this apparatus are as follows: The label is in pretty good legible condition which is more then I can say for some of the other machines I have seen on ebay that have sold. The New York Evening Mail newspaper often published caricatures of the leading figures in New York society, business, and politics, rendered by their staff artists, J. C. Fireman and Jesse S. Vet" Anderson. In 1905. The paper published a short-run leather-bound compilation of these cartoons which included nearly 200 plates of caricatures by these two artists, without text. It was titled"Men of Affairs" and featured superbly printed engraved line art of these illustrations. Men of Affairs" is sometimes referred to as a"vanity book" because it was sold by subscription to the caricature subjects themselves. With covers imprinted in gold with their name. So. This quack device was first patented in 1919. Then again in 1931. I put two D batteries in the unit and got my shock, so it must be working. This comes to you with the Electreat unit, two palm pads, an attaching cord, an internal electrode, the"how to use" brochure and the original box with instructions printed on the inside of the lid. They do not claim to cure disease. The internal electrode"was designed for practitioner's use" Ouch. The inside of the battery chamber shows some corrosion from batteries left in the unit, still working. The accessories are very good, the brochure good, the box good with all the seams split on the lid, the instructions on the inside of the lid clear and unstained. Electreat Manufacturing Company was located in Peoria, Illinois. everybody should have one of these.
