ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN QUACK DOCTOR MEDICAL SHOCK MACHINE. The case is made from mahogany with brass fittings. The machine is in excellent condition and comes with all its equipment. There is a compartment for the equipment to be stored away. I have not been able to test the machine as I do not have a battery. I assume it should work because it is in great condition. Antique Quack Medical Dinshah Spectro-Chrome Color Therapy Projector
This machine was invented and patented by Dinshah P. Bhadiali who produced these color therapy machines in the 1920s. He believed that it cured many different ailments including cancer. He believed by shooting different color lights at certain spots the people could be cured. This machine is excellent working condition. All of the color lenses and clear lenses are intact and still operational. The 1.000 watt bulb still also works. The outer box made of heavy aluminum with some wear in some areas. The cord in frayed and may have to be replaced.

Up for auction is hard to find"Boyd's Battery" quack medicine pendant from 1878- 1879. The most famous of the medical batteries was the Boyd's Battery. They were made with different metals that promised to create a healing electrical current when pressed against your skin. The galvanic properties were released by the different metals reacting to the moisture in your skin. Original box is in decent conditon for it's age, though it does show signs of use, wear and possible water exposure. Bakelite violet wand, control panel, internal parts and original cloth wiring are all in very good to excellent condition for their age. This unit does power up and throws a nice spark. Antique Quack Medical Induction Coil Shock Electropathic Instrument
Up for bids today is what I believe to be an antique Quack Medical Induction Coil device. Perhaps used for"electropathic shock" therapy in the 1930's or prior. There are no identifying marks on this item, but the base is made of wood and the top plate that everything is mounted on is perhaps bakelite, but I am not sure. The dimensions of the piece are 9.75" x 11" and about 3" tall at the highest point. As you can see in the photos, there is some wear, and a small tear in the material that is wrapped around the coil. The induction coil, from what I've read, is for the purposes of applying high voltage, low current to the body. The adjustable rod(second to the last photo) varies the intensity of the shock. Wow I hate to sell this thing. What a kooky. Crazy cool piece of medical equipment. Seems to work exactly as intended. I was dumb enough to put it near my skin and sure enough little electrical impulses jumped from the machine to my arm. It comes on and the purple light runs up the tubes. It shows 6 electrodes in the instructions but there is only the throat electrode and the comb electrode included. I don't think they were ever 6 electrodes in this set because there is only 1 missing hole which would be for the general electrode. This thing is crazy cool I love it. Up for auction here today is a no 4 D.D. Home medical apparatus. I bought this from a estate sale a few years back for a 100.00 and I am just trying to recoup some of my money. It is missing quite a few different things to actually be considered complete. What it comes with is pictured in the above photographs. And what it is missing is outlined in the condition description. If you are missing a few parts to make yours complete. Or are looking for a box that is in decent shape then this could be the item for you. A couple of good points to mention about this apparatus are as follows: The label is in pretty good legible condition which is more then I can say for some of the other machines I have seen on ebay that have sold. The hinges are in good shape also with no broken flathead screws. Antique Late 1800s No. 4 D.D. Home Medical Apparatus in Oak Box— Quack Medicine!
Late 1800s antique quack medical apparatus made by J.H. Bunnell& Company. Instruction plate titles the device"The New No. 4 D.D. Home Medical Apparatus" Contained in a honey colored oak box. Brass and metal hardware is all original. Box was stripped and refinished with MinWax satin varnish and buffed out with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. Instruction label was badly damaged. But photographed before it was removed. A quality color inkjet print of the instructions will be included with purchase. Some parts are missing, including the wiring, the metal tube that held the battery, metal foot plate, and the sponges that were included with the electrodes. The piece measures 8 3/4" wide x 5 1/4" deep by 4 1/2 tall. Shipping weight approximately 3 1/2 lbs. Antique Medical Apperatus No. 4 D.D. Excellent& Complete This is a very nice piece for any collection. You can do your own research as to manufacturers and dates. It appears to be complete and in excellent. Original, and complete condition. The oak case has a very good original clear finish. The label inside is complete and readable with one water stain that can be seen in the photos. The hinges have some oxidation but work very well. The metal handle and latches have some slight oxidation. The interior of the unit is very clean with all the metal terminals and surfaces in very good condition. The cylinder that holds the battery is beginning to loose some of it's nickel finish. The terminals. Electrodes, handles, and wires are also in very good condition. There are two sets of wires for the electrodes. The flexible wires for the electrodes ... moreare in good shape. It does not look like they will fall appart after all these years. The sponge electrodes are the only thing that is not in excellent to very good condition. As seen in the photos, the sponge has begun to deteriorate on the sponge electrodes. Also, some of the black paper on the bottom is missing. All in all. A very fine piece. This is not a unit that is missing any parts. With just a minimal amount of cleaning this item could be put in like new condition. I will even guarantee that it will work. It will cure just about everything!
