Turnout Lewis son of car producer and wagon maker William Lewis, worked in the same building that Dr. Snoop.famed maker of Snoop' s Restorative Tonic. The plaque states Racin, Wis. His company made radios and he decided to try and get in on the medical market like Snoop had and this was his invention. This item states Pat. Pending so it is on the early side of his manufacturing. He started making them in 1923 and his product was outlawed in 1930 by the Federal Goverment! CHECK out on the web electrotherapy museum and Journal times is where I got my info. They give tours to that historic building today. I plugged in the device and it hums and makes louder noise as you turn the knob but I didn't see any ... morelight or feel any shock from the glass wand. The box is NOT in good condition. The hair one with the tines. I had a little hair recession and went to the hair styling school in my county and once a week for a few months had the treatment. And it made my hair grow nicely. Never had recession since. This would make a great display piece. Solid case with leather corners. So one wand works. The other four do not. Has a power knob to intensify the action. It really brightened when it touched my hand(as you can see) The case measures 12 5/16" wide x 9 1/8" deep x 6 3/4" tall. Its missing its handle but it has a working locking lock and key. This is manufactured by the Flemming Battery Company. Philia. It is in a wood box which is 9" long, 4-5/8" wide and 7" high. The long bar with the ball on the end moves up and down. There is a provision for a key on the front, but that is missing. There are 2 levers that can be placed in 4 different positions and two levers with two positions. What you see is what you get. I don't know what it was supposed to do. But I can guess. There is a battery operated coil on one end and as the lever with the ball bounces up and down the electrical connection is broken. I imagine that this causes an intermittent shock of varying levels. It is a cool gadget. Everyone should have one. The wiring is intact& well insulated. I did not hesitate to plug this guy in& give it a good testing. I am however( as with all the electronics I offer) selling this device as-is& as a collectors piece. The attached hand unit seems to made of Bakelite. Here at auction is an old 3 3/4" x 1 1/2" diameter brown glass cork bottle. No chips or cracks and bottle has its original label on it and it was partially wrapped in the paper wrapper that I have pictured with the bottle. the paper was wrapped around the bottle and folded up around the bottom but the top was torn down a little and the cork was leaking contents so I gently unwrapped the paper to see that the original label was still on the bottle. The colored side of the paper was wrapped to the inside so that the black and yellowed side was on the outside where the THIRTY CENTS small size could be seen. Companies who manufactured violet ray devices, made many other types of electrical appliances as well, e.g. Star Electric, which also manufactured stock ticker machines. Many of the companies who were able to continue manufacturing violet rays after the depression, stopped making them due to when they began manufacturing radio coils or other electrical components for the war instead. A typical violet ray device consisted of an ungrounded electrical control box that controlled the interrupter and which housed the magneto coil. And an attached bakelite or other handle housing which contained the high voltage coil and an insertion port for attachments. Glass evacuated tubes of varying shapes and for different therapeutic uses could be inserted into the bakelite handle to apply the resulting current to different parts of the body.

This is a vintage Aloe electro-therapeutic cabinet which is some sort of a vintage telsa high frequency violet ray electric medical diathermy machine with electrodes and accessories. The metal plate on top is marked"ALOE CO. NO. 7079 ST. LOUIS. On the marble top there are also 4 other small metal plates marked as: CAUTERY. DIAGNOSTIC, SINUSOIDAL AND DARSONVAL. It has a neat marble top which adds a lot of weight to the unit. The overall condition is good. The case is marked'LIGHTNING" The case is showing a lot of wear as shown in the photos but the hinges and latches all work. There is no power cord included or power ... morecord hole. I believe that you attach the electricity directly to the electrodes on top? So it is not tested and sold as is for parts or repair or for display. Gibbs and Co Violet Ray Quack Medical Device - 2 attachments
This item is labeled"Gibbs And Co. Worlds Largest Beauty Supply House" Comes with two attachments as pictured and bottom of case. Not tested. Most likely not working. Cord is frayed in spots, so I did not attempt to plug in to test. These antique violet wands were used are a form of Tesla coil and generate high frequencies, causing the glass attachments to glow a purplish color. They were used to treat a variety of ailments back in the day.

Vintage Bleadon-Dun Co. Violetta Quack Medical Device Working This is a vintage quack medical device made by the Bleadon-Dun Co. Chicago. This particular item is not marked but this company made one very similar called the Violetta. It is serial number 111860 and the paper label on the inside of the case is dated Jan 16-21. Included is the carrying case with built-in transformer. Wand, and 2 glass electrodes. It appears to be in very good condition. The cloth cords are in great shape, the glass electrodes are free of any chips, cracks, or breaks, and the case is also in good shape just showing some wear. I tested the unit by connecting it to a lamp socket and the transformer buzzed. I attached the wand and tested both electrodes and they both seem to function properly. On the inside of the case is a knob to adjust the intensity and it seems ... moreto work. I'm not sure what attachments originally came with this unit but I am including everything that I got with it. I am selling this vintage quack medical equipment As-Is, As-Pictured. Offered is this 8 1/2 inch tall clear glass Owens machine made medicine bottle embossed in script The J. R. Watkins Co. REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. The base has an Illinois Glass Co. Owens machine suction scar. There is a minor bruise on the back corner. There are no chips or cracks. The glass is clean and bright with no haze. Will combine multiple orders when paid together.
