SHIPPING IS QUICK. ENJOY! Dr. Scott. An Englishman, was the most prolific advertiser and maker of"electric hair brushes" and related quackery in America, in the 1880's. He received his first U.S. patent for a brush handle in 1872, and introduced his line of"electric brushes" in 1880. The Scott brushes and other devices all contain slightly magnetized iron rods in their handles, thus, the curative power could only have been provided by magnetism. However, Scott apparently preferred using the term"electric" in all of his advertising. Although, hair growth and relief from headaches are the two obvious claims ... morethat would come to mind for the possible use of an electric hair brush, Scott went on to make many wild claims for the curative power of his electric brushes. The conditions his brushes could cure included constipation, malarial lameness, rheumatism, diseases of the blood, and paralysis. Dutch Lennon Medicine Homeopathic Tin South Africa late 1800 antique
Lennon's Dutch homeopathic medicine was used extensively in South Africa in the 1800 and well into the 1900. This tin is a home medicine cabinet. It has some old and new medicine bottles(some with contents) inside between the tin dividers. Only one missing. The booklet comes in 3 langages and describes the healing powers contained in each bottle. This is a great example of early homeopathic medicine. On one side of the tine there is reference in Dutch to its safety for animals: Medicine for Ostriches. Horses, sheep, cows, etc.

RARE MAGNETO ELECTRIC MACHINE Late 1800's Early 1900's EXCELLENT CONDITION
This original Magneto-Electric Machine for Nervous and Other Diseases is Museum Quality. I cannot find an actual makers mark on machine. But it is complete and in excellent condition. Oak box does not have any cracks, or missing corners. The finish is still intact. Top and sides are nailed together, and bottom has screws, and the hinges are brass. Box is made with"butt" joints, and are not dove tailed. Inside is very clean, except all the way in the bottom, it is dusty. Crank works, motor spins, comes complete with the handles, which I believe might be brass or copper? The cords connecting the handles to the box are in great shape, except where they connect to the handles and the box. They are frayed on the ends, but could be shortened enough to fix. Also, the"ground" wire inside is disconnected so it cannot accidentally ... moreshock someone.I have not tested the machine, but it appears to be complete and I have no reason to believe it would not work. The only issues I found with the piece, is there are 2 screws on the bottom that hold the"generator" in the box that have surface rust, and someone wrote in pencil on the upper left hand side of the label that looks like 4 small letters. I did not try to erase it, but the rest of the machine/box/handles are in great condition This piece is in a very rare. Square" shape instead of the usual"rectangle" shaped box. This would be a great addition to a present collection, to start a collection, or even a wonderful museum piece. Machine is approximately 6" High. 6" Wide, and 5" Deep, and very heavy!
