RenuLife Violet Ray Generator Model K- Vintage‘Quack’ Medicine– Not Complete This auction is for a vintage RenuLife Violet Ray Generator Model K with electrode applicators. This package is not complete. This item was purchased on eBay once before. During shipping. One of the electrodes shattered and the buyer discovered that the item no longer worked. I gave a full refund to the buyer and the item was shipped back to me. I was able to fix the unit. It’s still in good condition and it now works again. The wand. Or the handle that hold the electrodes, is in great shape. The cord and the electrical cord that plugs into the wall are also in excellent condition. The dashboard, where the control knob resides, and the control knob itself, is very nice, but there are a few small nicks and scratches on the dashboard. The labeling around the knob is ... morestill there and looks great, as you can see from the pictures. It now comes with only(4) of the(5) electrodes; a Surface or General Body Electrode. A Rake Comb Electrode, a Metal Electrode, and a Single Eye Electrode. They are all in great shape and they all work. I tested them all myself prior to posting this auction. The External Throat Electrode is the one that is missing. You can see it in the last picture, which I took the first time I put this item on eBay. It is the second electrode from the right. The carrying case is in fair to good condition. There is definitely some wear and tear on the outer surfaces. Corners, and edges and there is no handle. The purple felt inside is still there, but is slowly flaking off, along with the‘RenuLife’ logo in the inside corner of the lid. This item also comes with multiple pieces of original paperwork. It comes with the Physician’s Directions for Renulife Treatments. Which are the instructions for operating the generator. Vintage Violet Ray electrode OZONE GENERATOR model from France
This is an authentic violet ray electrode for use with a violet ray machine. This electrode is an Ozone Generator which generates a flow of ozone to be inhaled through the nostrils. This electrode is 10 inches long and was supplied by the French Holo Electron company in around 1940. This electrode is in excellent working order and fits most machines. Piece has minor aging and wear to contend with but does turn on and generates electricity. One of the bulbs is Missing a metal bit and only one of the bulbs seems to work but only to a minor degree and generates no major charge. Piece came with tons of paper work. but some of the paper work looks like it came from this model as well as other models. Piece also seems to come with one other extra part. Not sure what its for, but it goes to because that is how it came to me. Piece measures 11 3/4in X 11in X 4 1/4in and is a nice displayable size. These machines were sold to doctors and the doctors were told that the electric shock provided by the ultra violet ray in the tubes promoted good health. This is now known as medical quackery. Refurbished RenuLife Model 2 Violet Ray Generator
This vintage RenuLife Model 2 box-type violet ray machine was patented in 1919. The original leather handle was extremely worn and about to tear off. For safety sake I removed and discarded it. The interior of the box including the velvet. Is in great shape. The machine comes with four electrodes. The large mushroom electrode is antique. The other two glass electrodes are new ones from China, but they work just fine. One antique insulated saturation electrode is also included. This violet ray generator has been completely refurbished. I rewired this device with new rubber insulated wire and cables. The primary capacitor has also been replaced with a new appropriately rated film capacitor. This violet ray machine purrs like a kitten and functions as originally intended. One steel attachment, case key, guarantee card dated May 7, 1923, two sheets(four pages) from the original electrode catalog(including cover) 4 sheets(8 pages) from the original instructions, a full replacement set of instructions, and an"Important" instructional sheet. The outer case is in very good shape, with no tears or rips in the covering.but with some edge wear. All of the metal the corner protectors are in place, as is the working lock(key included) Inside the case, the felt lining is in very good shape; no rips or tears. The wood finish on the control panel is shiny, and the bakelite electrode handle is uncracked and unbroken. Electrically upgraded antique RenuLife Model R High Frequency Generator. The Model R was the flagship in the line-up of RenuLife's violet ray machines. It was mostly used by doctors and was not intended to be used by the general public. This is a powerful violet ray machine! Most of the Chinese commercial violet ray devices one can purchase online are rated around 12W. The power rating of the Model R is 50W. But with today's 120V standard the machine probably consumes closer to 55W of power. It has a setting for internal and external use and also a switch to toggle back and forth from the ozone generator to the violet ray. The exterior and interior of the box, including the velvet, are in great shape given the age! The machine comes with 7 antique glass electrodes that all work and one metal electrode. In the above photo, starting ... moreat the top and then going from left to right: Rectal Electrode(horizontal) Metal Electrode, Condenser Electrode, Comb(or Rake) Electrode, Neck Electrode, Medium Surface Electrode, Fulguration Electrode and lastly, the Eye Electrode. This violet ray generator has been completely refurbished and tested. I rewired this device with new rubber insulated wire and cables. The old tinfoil and wax paper capacitor has been replaced with a new high voltage film capacitor and the ozone generator has been rebuilt. In addition I installed an EMI filter to help protect nearby. Sensitive electronic equipment from getting damaged by high frequency electricity bleeding back into the house electrical. The power cord plugs directly into the EMI filter that is installed into the side of the violet ray case. Since the original Ozone mask is missing, I am providing a thick walled vinyl tubing that will fit into the port for Ozone. Refurbished RenuLife Model C Violet Ray With Ozone Generator & Mask
Item Description Electrically upgraded antique 50 Watt RenuLife Model C with built-in ozone generator. Refurbishing this machine has by far been may greatest achievement in restoring an old violet ray device! The Model C is no doubt one of RenuLife's earliest models with a warranty card dated July 20th. 1920. This machine had been well used and by the time it was retired a number of parts were worn out. When the 1930's rolled around and RenuLife came out with the Model R, a number of design changes had been made to improve their high end violet ray devices. The Model C like it's later cousin the Model R, both have an ozone generator. The ozone generator in this Model C was in dire condition and needed to be completely rebuilt. I decided to reconstruct the ozone generator in the fashion that was used in the model R(see photos above) ... moreInstead of using 3 capacitors to power the machine's three basic functions(High, Low and Ozone) I followed the Model R design and used a single high voltage capacitor and two small induction coils to achieve the same effect. The mechanism that makes the buzzing sound in antique violet ray machines is called the interrupter and along with the capacitor is responsible for creating the first stage of high voltage that gets sent to the resonator or high frequency coil located in the wand. In all post 1930 RenuLife machines. The only part of the interrupter that is visible from the outside is the adjustment knob. The RenuLife Model C actually has the interrupter on the top surface of the control board. The original adjustment knob(screw) and the bracket that holds it, was worn out on this device and needed replacement. In order to complete the repair, I used parts from a Fitzgerald violet ray machine. These parts were actually higher in quality and the adjustment knob had a thicker more durable shaft. The Fitzgerald interrupter also had a nice chromed cover for the vibrating contact spring, which was lacking in the original RenuLife Model C design. This cover is a protective
