There is chipping on the corners of the covers. a scrape on the back cover and twenty or so pgs which have a grease mark which is on the lower left corner of the pages. It does not affect the text to any great degree. O/w all is clean and free of damage. This would be an example of a 19th Century cure offered for purchase by mail. Basically. It was a Belt w/batteries which would direct electricity into the body to restore any deficiencies. The Belt(several Models available) is pictured in color and explained in great detail. It was offered to both men and women. There are numerous illustrations ... moreof various body parts as well. There is a date of"1896" on one of the Order Pages. Dr. Sanden implores readers to be sure to include their waist size when ordering. THE METAL IS STAMPED WITH A'7' 95995 AND DR SANDEN'S ELECTRIC HURCULEX- LATEST MODEL. IT IS NON-MAGNETIC AND AN AREA ON ONE OF THE WELDED LOOPS IS SPLIT AT THE WELD. THE OVERALL LENGTH OF THE METAL BAND IS 21" AND IT IS ABOUT 2 1/2" WIDE. THE WEIGHT IS 7 OUNCES. THE PURPLE BELT COULD BE AUTHENTIC AND IT IS STAMPED PATENTED DEC 1. Vintage MAGNETICRAY Quack Medicine Electric Plug In Leather Belt Neat Item!!
Bidding on a neat old. But weird, large heavy belt with plug in cord. Has a oval badge that reads Pat Applied For Magnetic Ray Company Dallas Texas 110-120 Volt Alternating Current#4855. Has a large circular On-Off switch. The cord is fairly long and is original I have not plugged it in because of damage to the plug. The belt is leather circle with not buckle. I am not sure how it works but a neat quack medical device. Measures 17' across opening and 4' high. It is fairly heavy. Never seen another one.
