Portable Double Cell Faradic Battery, In Case, No Batteries
This is an old medical device. Made when people thought that electrical treatment could cure just about anything you could think of. The name on the directions on the inside of the lid call it a"Portable Double Cell Faradic Battery" but it does not say who it was made by. It has no batteries in the bottom, which is probably a good thing, who know how old the batteries would be if it had any, it takes batter cells too. It only has space for what seems to be two batteries, and 4 cords that connect to them, each are labbled for where they go on which battery, but I don't quite understand it, they say something about Zink and Carbon of each battery, I would somehow guess that that has something to do with positive and negative. It also seems to be missing a few of the parts that go in the space in the lid, it seems to be missing ... moresome kind of manual that goes with it and maybe a couple of other parts, but I don't know much about it. I was able to find 2 other things on the directions for the device, they say that It was inspected by Achille St. Laurent and that the serial number for it is 78823. That is about all that I know about it, shipping box dimentions are 10 by 10 by 10.

Vintage SIGNAL ELECTRIC Portable Double Cell FARADIC BATTERY. This is a really nice example of an early quack device. The box is amazing looking. As is the wear from use, giving it a mad scientist feel. It does work, but with anything this old I can't say for sure it will work once you get it, and it may need some tinkering. 1908 era Portable double cell Faradic Battery # 17823 Shock treatment machine
A Barn find up for sale is a Portable double cell Faradic Battery serial# 17823 with the paper work attached inside the box. The paper work does have some damage but it readable as you can see in the pics. The box is in decent shape the bottom of the box will need some repairs( minor) The top of the box is missing the lid. Antique 19th Century Quack Medical Device Portable Double Cell Faradic Battery
This is an early 1900's quack medical device. It is called the Portable Double Cell Faradic Battery. It uses dry cells: not included- to send a high volt impulse to the electrodes that you can apply to the body and heal various ailments. It is actually an early muscle stimulator-electrical stimulation device. This is a nearly complete set although showing its age a bit. Wires are frayed but the cool and pads are actually in good condition. It is in a hardwood finger jointed box with limited wear and has instructions on the lid. Size: box is 8.75" x 6" x 8" Condition: box shows minor wear on wood. Coil and pad are in great condition. Wires are frayed wood handles are excellent. No signs of rust noted. The box is made of wood and has instructions on the inside as well as some cords and such that came with it. I am not sure if this item works or not as it is untested. All of the levers. Switches and latches move but again I am not sure if they work. This item was manufactured in the U.S.A by"Signal Electric Manufacturing Co. It measures roughly 8.75" tall by 6.25" wide and 8.5" deep. On the inside of the box there are directions and a parts list also it has some inspection numbers"781139" and is initialed"M.H. Antique Portable Faradic Double Cell Battery Medical Device Comes with original dove tail wooden box and instruments shown in picture number 4. The last picture shows the bottom of the wooden box has broken and the 2 Columbia Igniter Dry Cell batteries are exposed. I know that is was used by my grandfather for my father's difficulty in using his muscles when he was only a few months old.
