Ads for Dr. Jayne's products are featured in this vintage collectible. They include his Carminitive. Sanative Pills, and Expectorant. My favorite is the cure for Tape Worms. The reverse cover of the Almanac features and advertisement for The Waldorf Pharmacy in Marion, Ohio. This booklet is about 6 inches across and about 7 inches high. It is in pretty rough condition. With heavy spine wear, some edge damage, paper loss and staining. The cover has detached from the rest of the booklet, and is in two pieces after tearing along the spine. The New York Evening Mail newspaper often published caricatures of the leading figures in New York society, business, and politics, rendered by their staff artists, J. C. Fireman and Jesse S. Vet" Anderson. In 1905. The paper published a short-run leather-bound compilation of these cartoons which included nearly 200 plates of caricatures by these two artists, without text. It was titled"Men of Affairs" and featured superbly printed engraved line art of these illustrations. Men of Affairs" is sometimes referred to as a"vanity book" because it was sold by subscription to the caricature subjects themselves. With covers imprinted in gold with their name. So. These volumes were not mass market ... moreproducts and are very rare today- they come to market infrequently, priced in excess of $500 even for worn copies. VINTAGE DECO ERA BAKELITE HANDLES ROLLING PIN QUACK DOCTOR MEDICINE TOOL NR
NO RESERVE… This auction is for some type of Rolling Pin Tool. That was likely something used by a Doctor maybe as a massager? I have one photo with a yellow pencil pointing at the center end of one of the Bakelite Handles. I am trying to point out where there was once an electrical cord attached, that has been cut off and now gone. The entire rolling pin is approx. 20 inches long, and about 2 1/2 inch in diameter at the center area. In one of my photos I have a yellow pencil point at an area of the black rubber ribs. I am trying to point out age cracking between one of the rubber ribs. There is also another on the other side. The rubber ribbing seems to be securely attached and not coming off. Marked along one area of the black rubber ribs is, United States Patent No. January 12th, 1932" I am not sure how the piece would be opened up ... moreto connect a new electric cord. The reverse cover of the Almanac features an advertisement for The Waldorf Pharmacy in Marion, Ohio. This booklet is about 6 inches across and about 7 inches high. It is in pretty rough condition. With heavy spine wear, some edge damage, paper loss and staining. The cover has nearly detached from the rest of the booklet, as it has torn along the spine. DOCTOR CRUMB'S UNION OINTMENT antique medicine cork bottle aqua excellent 2 3/4"
I listed this as a quack medicine but have not researched it so I could be wrong. The bottle is small. 2 3/4" long and 1 1/4" across on the bottom. It is not square as the sides are octagonal. The top extends from the base by about an inch. It has an inside diameter of 3/4" and an outside diameter of 1 1/8" Nice aqua color and quite clear as I think you can see in my pictures. I forgot to take a picture looking directly at the top and at the bottom. I will do so and add later. Some air bubbles. Lettering is embossed. No chips or cracks. ~Vintage Quack Doctor Medicine Device in Wooden Box ~ This vintage Quack Doctor Medicine Device in Wooden Box is in fair condition. The manufacturer of this device is unknown. It is also unknown if the device will operate as some of the wires are very frail. There is a removable 8" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/4" wood box with two 1" x 9" metal cylinders and wire in it. The main device is attached to a removable wood platform. It has thin metal coil wrapped around it and a red and blue wire attached underneath. The box measures 9 1/2" x 6 3/4" x 5 3/4" The total weight of entire device in box is almost 5 lb. Please see photos as they are part of description. Thanks!
