Not the later electro shock brain'treatments' Photos of the contents pages list some of this, and the case studies/reports are really intersesting. I wish I had time to study this more.alas. I'm not saying this is quackery. But it is from an interesting time in medical science. I have taken some photos of the text and it really is fascinating stuff. Very nice condition 1860's vintage veterinary kit in wood box. Includes boxes of various medicne. This is a really really nice piece and would make a great display or addition to your collection. Label on inside top cover is a little stained but you can buy new ones if you choose to on Ebay. I personally like it the way it is. Vintage Antique Quackery Quack Medicine Medical Electro Electric shock machine
This is a strange old piece of"medical" quackery. I don't know much about it other than it was in my parents basement and they are cleaning things out like the many late 1800's and early 1900's blueprints I had for sale and the glass negatives. The man who used to live there had several strange things like this that we are finally getting around to selling. My dad said this actually works. Or at least gets current through it, but we don't really know what it does. There are no markings with a name that I can see. The front of the box has a pretty scrolled silver lock(that works) and the box opens up to see the handles with the electric cords and the knobs and whatnot. The box itself is a heavy wood and measures about 9" tall. 7.5 deep and 6.75 wide We would be interested in learning more if you know what this ... moreis just for curiosity sake. Here is a VERY rare phrenology device. I have only seen one other one of these and it was in a museum. I have never seen one on eBay. You probably will never have an opportunity to purchase one of these again. It is totally complete except for the key(to lock the box) The batteries are original and quite rare themselves. The batteries have very little power left in them. So the device will not work with the original batteries hooked up. I did build a battery pack that would mimic the original batteries to see if the unit worked. It did. It operated flawlessly. Kutnow's Powder Antique Vintage Aqua Blue Glass Bottle Quack Medicine England
This is an antique Kutnow's Powder bottle. Kutnow's was used to(supposedly) cure everything from liver problems. Kidney problems, headaches, gout, etc. The bottle has a mold seam that ends at the base of the neck and measures 4-3/4" tall, 2-1/2" wide across the front and 1-3/4" wide across the side. The bottom is embossed with.K s. P. The bottle has a line in the lip which I think is a production flaw but may possibly be a crack. It also has some scuffing. A no reserve auction for a very old and very rare oddity light of some kind. Whatever this is it works and works well! I presume that its a vintage medical therapy light of some sort. It's in great condition except its missing all but a sliver if the decal on too that says what it is. I know its rare because I've spent hours looking for it online. Here's how it works. Plug it in to a standard outlet flip on the power switch and the 4 glass tubes light up alternating red and blue. They not only just light up but they look like the contents are flowing! There's a intensity or power dial on the front that controls the intensity of the tubes. It also makes a buzzing sound that gets louder when power is increased. When you have this thing on there's a strong odor of ozone present. Antique inhaler with wooden box / papers and vintage postage stamp (medicine)
For auction is an antique Scientitic Catarrh Inhaler with the original box and papers.The box is finger-jointed and the lid slides in and out.The sides of the lid have been worn off but the end still has the little slat that fits into the groove.The lid still works ok though.Size is 4 1/4 x2 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches.The inhaler rubber hose is stiff and dried out but could probably be glued for display purposes(dont think anyone would want to try 110 year old medicine)And there is a nice old 2 1/2 cent American stamp on the end which features a steam ship and reads series of 1898 on it.

Vintage Master Violet Ray Quack Antique Medical Device Shock Therapy -EC
Vintage example of early 1900's quack electroshock therapy device. We did turn on this device and when the lights were off the glass glowed purple. A little scary to use on your body since it started to cause my cell to go haywire. Box is in stressed condition with corners ripped. A typical violet ray device consisted of an ungrounded electrical control box that controlled the interrupter and which housed the magneto coil. And an attached bakelite or other handle housing which contained the high voltage coil and an insertion port for attachments. Handblown Glass evacuated tubes of varying shapes and for different therapeutic uses could be inserted into the bakelite handle to apply the resulting current to different parts of the body. It has many accessories and cloth covered cables, as shown in photos, all which appear to be in good condition with no damage. The hardcover instruction book is dated 1938, and is illustrated with drawings and black and white photos. Up for auction is this fascinating VINTAGE MEDICAL"QUACK" INSTRUMENT called A FARADIC CURRENT MACHINE. This very unusual and expensive device was found in doctor's offices as well as the general population. I would place this machine in the early 1900's. This device was used to cure a whole raft of diseases which included Acne. Malaria, Baldness, loss of voice, blood disorders, and Asthma just to name a few. I don't know if it is complete or if it works. The electircal cord is very old and ragged. It does come with the original instruction book that is over 70 pages long and looks to be complete. Estate sale find. This machine is pretty cool. To bad I don't know what it was used for.The only thing I can see this doing is controlling the amount of voltage output. Shock treatment anyone? The glass top is beveled and not cracked. The machine is 21" long x 14" wide x 11" tall and sits on a rolling stand that is 25" long x 18" wide and 24" tall. The casters need new rubber. There are plugs on the left side for Low voltage, Medium voltage and High voltage. Plus one that says it's an Indifferent Terminal. Like it doesn't care if you get shocked to death. The gauge is a Milliamperes 0-4000. It also has a foot switch on the right side for reasons unknown. German Flouroscope XRAY HELMET Antique Vintage Rare Oddity WW2 Steampunk Diving
Wolf X-Ray Products Operating Fluoroscope(ca. 1930s) Up for auction is a super rare Flouroscope X-Ray Helmet from the early 1930s. This is the only one I've ever seen. It is made of wood with elastic straps which are adjustable. The visor opens and closes and it comes with 2 filters(red and blue) The stand is not included but gives you an idea about how to display helmet. According to an ebay member he informed me on the origin of this helmet: This is a x-ray helmet/flouroscopy with origins from the early 20th century. They were used in medicine to see inside a patient's body. The patient would stand in front of an x-ray tube. With the xray beam going through his body, while the doctor stood facing the patient. As the beam hit the contraption he had covering his eyes. The doctor would see an image of the inside of the patient's ... morebody. This particular fluoroscope was manufactured by the Wolf X-ray Products Inc. of New York City probably in the 1930s. Wolf X-ray Products, which specializes in x-ray accessories, is still in business. With the beam on, the physician would position themselves on the opposite side of the patient x-ray tube and view the image produced on the fluorescent screen of the fluoroscope. Compared to generating images on x-ray film, the use of a fluoroscope resulted in higher doses to the patient and doctor(who would not otherwise be exposed to the direct beam) Because this unit was held on the head via straps. It permitted hands-free use- a decided advantage for a physician in the operating room. The screen on this example(approximately 6" x 8" consists of a layer of calcium or cadmium tungstate deposited on the inside of the glass plate that forms the broad end of the device. The body of the fluoroscope is covered with black leatherette and the viewing port is protected from stray light with a fur-like fabric. The front end of the fluoroscope can be flipped up out of the way so that the physician could see without having to completely remove the fluoroscope. When the fluor
