ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN QUACK DOCTOR MEDICAL SHOCK MACHINE. The case is made from mahogany with brass fittings. The machine is in excellent condition and comes with all its equipment. Antique Quack Medical Dinshah Spectro-Chrome Color Therapy Projector
This machine was invented and patented by Dinshah P. Bhadiali who produced these color therapy machines in the 1920s. He believed that it cured many different ailments including cancer. He believed by shooting different color lights at certain spots the people could be cured. This machine is excellent working condition. All of the color lenses and clear lenses are intact and still operational. The 1.000 watt bulb still also works. The outer box made of heavy aluminum with some wear in some areas. The cord in frayed and may have to be replaced.

Up for auction is hard to find"Boyd's Battery" quack medicine pendant from 1878- 1879. The most famous of the medical batteries was the Boyd's Battery. They were made with different metals that promised to create a healing electrical current when pressed against your skin. The galvanic properties were released by the different metals reacting to the moisture in your skin. Antique Quack Medical Induction Coil Shock Electropathic Instrument
Up for bids today is what I believe to be an antique Quack Medical Induction Coil device. Perhaps used for"electropathic shock" therapy in the 1930's or prior. There are no identifying marks on this item, but the base is made of wood and the top plate that everything is mounted on is perhaps bakelite, but I am not sure. The dimensions of the piece are 9.75" x 11" and about 3" tall at the highest point. As you can see in the photos, there is some wear, and a small tear in the material that is wrapped around the coil. The induction coil, from what I've read, is for the purposes of applying high voltage, low current to the body. The adjustable rod(second to the last photo) varies the intensity of the shock. Up for auction here today is a no 4 D.D. Home medical apparatus. I bought this from a estate sale a few years back for a 100.00 and I am just trying to recoup some of my money. It is missing quite a few different things to actually be considered complete. What it comes with is pictured in the above photographs. And what it is missing is outlined in the condition description. If you are missing a few parts to make yours complete. A couple of good points to mention about this apparatus are as follows: The label is in pretty good legible condition which is more then I can say for some of the other machines I have seen on ebay that have sold. Brass and metal hardware is all original. Box was stripped and refinished with MinWax satin varnish and buffed out with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. Instruction label was badly damaged. Vintage Antique Quackery Quack Medicine Medical Electro Electric shock machine
This is a strange old piece of"medical" quackery. I don't know much about it other than it was in my parents basement and they are cleaning things out like the many late 1800's and early 1900's blueprints I had for sale and the glass negatives. The man who used to live there had several strange things like this that we are finally getting around to selling. My dad said this actually works. Or at least gets current through it, but we don't really know what it does. There are no markings with a name that I can see. The front of the box has a pretty scrolled silver lock(that works) and the box opens up to see the handles with the electric cords and the knobs and whatnot. The box itself is a heavy wood and measures about 9" tall. 7.5 deep and 6.75 wide We would be interested in learning more if you know what this ... moreis just for curiosity sake. Vintage Antique Phrenology Psychiatry Quack Medical Shock Device VERY RARE
Here is a VERY rare phrenology device. I have only seen one other one of these and it was in a museum. I have never seen one on eBay. You probably will never have an opportunity to purchase one of these again. It is totally complete except for the key(to lock the box) The batteries are original and quite rare themselves. The batteries have very little power left in them. So the device will not work with the original batteries hooked up. I did build a battery pack that would mimic the original batteries to see if the unit worked. It did. It operated flawlessly. Antique bit of medical quackery OXYDONOR VICTORY. Invented made& sold by Dr Hercule Sanche. Patent years engraved on the 3 5/8" by 1" diameter metal capsule: 1890, 1892, 1894, 1897, 1898. This device claimed to cure almost anything by forcing oxygen into the body. The tube is supposedly filled with carbon and would have been placed in icy water while the attached wires conducted the"life force" to electrodes attached to the patient. We do not have the electrodes. Nickel plating on the capsul is worn and scratched and the woven cloth covering on the wire is worn. Dr Sanche was a notorious quack who moved his operation around the USA and Canada staying just one step ahead of the authorities. It's in great condition except its missing all but a sliver if the decal on too that says what it is. I know its rare because I've spent hours looking for it online. Here's how it works. Plug it in to a standard outlet flip on the power switch and the 4 glass tubes light up alternating red and blue. They not only just light up but they look like the contents are flowing! Very cool antique item. The last date listed on the label is 1899 regarding the patents- not sure if this represents the actual age. Great condition for its age. Wood box is in great shape; there is what appears to be a thin hairline crack on the top. You can see it on the label as well. Vintage example of early 1900's quack electroshock therapy device. We did turn on this device and when the lights were off the glass glowed purple. A little scary to use on your body since it started to cause my cell to go haywire. Box is in stressed condition with corners ripped. A typical violet ray device consisted of an ungrounded electrical control box that controlled the interrupter and which housed the magneto coil. And an attached bakelite or other handle housing which contained the high voltage coil and an insertion port for attachments. Handblown Glass evacuated tubes of varying shapes and for different therapeutic uses could be inserted into the bakelite handle to apply the resulting current to different parts of the body. It comes with the two original electrodes that are clipped to the lid of the box and an extender plus a fine point glass electrode. Very Cool Antique Meter from Waite& Bartlett MFG CO in New York. The Scale goes from 0- 1500. The only info I could find on this product was in a catalog from the late 1800's. It appears to be used from something in the medical field. Possible for measuring the current that was being used to shock someones aliments. The Glass looks like it is supper thick. The adjustment to zero the meter out seems to work when turned it move the hand back and forth. It is missing one of the thumb screws that would hold the wire onto it. Up for auction is this fascinating VINTAGE MEDICAL"QUACK" INSTRUMENT called A FARADIC CURRENT MACHINE. This very unusual and expensive device was found in doctor's offices as well as the general population. I would place this machine in the early 1900's. This device was used to cure a whole raft of diseases which included Acne. Malaria, Baldness, loss of voice, blood disorders, and Asthma just to name a few. I don't know if it is complete or if it works. The electircal cord is very old and ragged. It does come with the original instruction book that is over 70 pages long and looks to be complete. Old Antique F. Geiser Quack Medical Shock Magneto Cure All Device
Offered at auction is an old antique quack medical device from many decades ago. This device came from a deceased medical doctor’s estate. I am not certain of its actual age but quite possibly it is from the 1920’s. This device is in a case that is about 7 ½” x 7 ½” x 6” and weighs just over 10 lbs. I am not certain how it works or what it was used for. It was possibly a cure all shock device. It is marked F. Geiger. Phila. There is a green variegated marble like surface on the top side of the inside of the case. It is in nice clean condition and has a coil of external wiring included. Some of the outer coating on the wiring is starting to flake(see photos) I have taken photos of the internal works which depicts a magnet like object surrounded by copper. Being offered is an antique 1880's quack medical meter by Otto Flemming Philadelphia Penn. The case is made of beautiful quartersawn oak retaining its original gloss finish. The glass is good. The mechanism is built of heavy brass. The pointer still pivots and the pivot release mechanism still works well. The curved black brass scale retains its embossed and painted letters. The condition is as good as you will find anywhere.

Up for auction is an antique"The People's Common Sense Medical Adviser. It was published in 1895 by the World's Dispensary. Which ran the Invalid's Hotel and Surgical Institution, a sanitarium in Buffalo, NY. The Invalids Hotel was started up by Dr. Pierce, who sold a big quantity and variety of quack medicine during the Victorian era. There are many, many testimonials through out the book from people who supposedly got healed at the sanitarium or from The World's Dispensary/ Dr. Pierces Products(see 6th photo. There are plenty of illustrations including pictures of the sanitarium, anatomical drawings and 3 colored plates of skin diseases. The binding of the book is intact but cracked. The front cover is ripped about half way off from the spine. There are a few loose pages. Antique COMPLETE No. 4 D.D. Home Medical Apparatus electroshock Quack Medicine!
This listing is for a wonderful antique quack-medical electroshock device from the late 1800's. The No. 4 D.D. Home medical Apparatus produced by J.H. Bunnell&Co. Is complete with the exception of its guidebook, the battery(which would long since be ruined) and the connecting wires(which also often corroded away) Included are the device itself as well as all of its attachement instruments. 2 insulating wood handles, 2 metallic tube hand electrodes, 2 improved sponge electrodes, and 1 foot plate electrode. These are all housed neatly in an over and under latching oak carry case. This is a fantastic piece of early medical history. It is very rare to find one with all complete hardware. The condition of the piece is remarkable for its age. There is some corrosion likely from when the original battery began to degrade, but it appears ... morethat it would likely clean up fairly well. The exterior oak case is very clean, the wiring you see exposed in the bottom of the case was standard to this variety of device and is not an alteration. WORLDS DISPENSARY SERIES BOOK! This olde book bears a fancy cover design and verbage. Boasting it's from the World's Dispensary Medical Association of Buffalo NY and even a London Branch. Dated 1894 it's Part II Chronic Deseases of the Digestive Organs. It's 136 pages covers treatment and causes of the diseases, however I see it more as a promotional tool for a Dr. Pierce's familiar Remedies which are mentioned through out. This includes his'Pleasant Pellets' and his bottles of'Golden Medical Discovery' There's a 40 page section of Testimonials from persons(includes photos or drawings of them) who claim to have been cured by using the good Doctor's remedies! Claims from curing headaches to tumors!
