Antique Infant Lung Motor Life Saving Devices Chicago Early 1900's
Neat unusual piece marked Infant Lung Motor. The center red post is has settings for medium and small where you insert the two prong key I presume to regulate the amount of air forced into the lungs. Sounds pretty dangerous. This probably had some hoses at one time. But you are bidding on the unit as pictured minus the $5 dollar bill for size comparison. The finish is pretty nice and will clean up with some steel wool. It does blow air out when you work the top handle. Buyer pays $12 priority in the U.S. International pay $60.

Antique Oxypathor Quack Medicine Device Early 1900's Original Wood Box Description This early 1900's"Oxypathor" Device is in its original marked box and appears to be complete and is in Excellent(untested) condition. Included in the box is some sort of tool. The tool and the dove tailed box are both in excellent condition. According to someone elses description of one of these on Ebay. It was marketed by"Elvard L. Moses" 1910-1915) who was sentenced to 18 months in the federal penitentiary for sales of fraudulent devices through the U.S. Postal Service. The purpose of the device. As therapeutic agent, was to permit the body to absorb more oxygen and enhance its own ability to counter act almost any ailment. The box measures approx. 7-7/8" long- 4-3/4" wide and 3-1/4" deep. I did not see any other metal serving pot like this so I think it is rare. Fun collectible for someone interested in antique-vintage quack medical or health food items. Metal pot has a lid with finial on top. From base to top it measures about 11" tall. It is about 11.5" widest point from the side of the pot out to the wooden handle and wood finial Handle ... morescrews into the side of the pot. There is also a pouring spout. Maker's name on the bottom. Manning Bowman& Company" They were located in Meriden, Connecticut. Condition of this old metal pot is as you see in the photos with this listing. The metal has some dings/small dents in various places on the side. Patina surface has rub and scuff. Discoloration marks, scratches, etc. from age wear and use. Lid opens and closes with slight gap when closed. Spout has some bends and I think small pieces nicked off tip. I washed the pot but there is still some black residue inside, around lid, etc. Likely the contents, the Vigoral was very hot inside. Wood handle has rub and scuff, black paint has come off in various places. It is not possible for me to say everything about an old item like this so please view the photos as they are considered part of the description. This pot is not dated. However, we know that Vigoral was sold around turn of the century. It is being sold"as is" as was found so please be sure you are ok with all before buying. LONG'S MAGNETIC COMB- VERY EARLY 1900'S- EXCELLENT CONDITION Prof. Long's Magnetic Comb was sold in the very early 1900's(have seen a 1906 trade ad for it) as part of the belief in magnetic properties having medicinal properties. In this case to ensure beautiful healthy hair. The comb appears to be made of solid aluminum, and is heavily embossed on both sides as seen in the pictures. It is in excellent condition, and who knows, maybe it really does work. It measures 7 1/2 inches long and is about 1 1/2 inches wide. Shipping cost in the US is $3.00. Amazing looking machine from an estate sale. Stored away for years and years! Per the plate on interior: Catalog#8455, serial no. 728. Interior of this unit appears almost pristine. Cord in good condition. Slight fraying of outer cloth cover at one end. Wiring insulation intact. TESTED! Unit turns on and conducts electricity. Because this is an electrical device 100 years or more old and it must be shipped, I cannot warrant it will continue to work or even arrive that way. It is being offered strictly"as is" and clearly stated as a"quack medicine" device, also definitely hazardous if plugged in. Great old wooden case but shows signs of wear. Vtg-Antique 1900? Malydor Injection Bottle- Lancaster Ohio M easures about 5 inches tall. Has chips and a crack at the top rim. Has bubbles from manufacture and has a look of iridescence that might be original. This medicine was to be injected and reportedly included a free syringe with each bottle- that might be the reason for the bottle's odd shape. Malydor was a"quack" medicine advertised as a cure for gleet. Gonorrhea, piles, syphilis, nasal catarrh and other conditions. In 1919, the government authorized seizing supplies of Malydor and concluded it did not have ingredients to treat the conditions claimed. It was ordered that the product be destroyed. Antique Dr Hinkle's Cascara Cathartic Pills Never opened in Original Packaging ca 1900 This medication. Which was made from the late 1800's to the early 1900's definitely belongs in the Quack Medicine category. It is supposed to be a cure for constipation, but the ingredients make it sound more like a poison. According to the info in the pamphlet. Dr. Hinkle served in the Civil War and was taken prisoner. While he was a prisoner he realized that due to his treatment from his captors, he became extremely constipated. When the war was, over Dr Hinkle expanded his medical practice. For the next 5 years he did research on constipation, this led to his discovery of the Pill Cascara Cathartic. These pills are made of: Podophyllin is a resinous powder obtained by precipitating an alcoholic tincture of the rhizome of American Mayapple. ... moreAloin. Also known as Barbaloin, 1] it is a bitter. Yellow-brown colored compound noted in the exudate of at least 68 Aloe species. Strychnine is a highly toxic poison used in pesticides. Extract of bella-donna. Commonly known as belladonna or deadly nightshade. It is a perennial herbaceous plant. G igérine, also known as"watermelon jam" is made up of a variety of different kinds of watermelons. The descriptions you see above are the true definition of these poisons. The pamphlet that comes with the pills describes them in a much better light. The bottle has never been opened. The paperwork includes all the original documentation- The smallest paper is the label that was originally glued to the bottle. Over thast 100 years or so. Either the glue that had adhered it to the bottle broke down or maybe someone made a mistake and it was never adhered to the bottle. This label is in great condition with no rips or tears. The larger square paper is the original paper that was wrapped around the bottle and the other paper documents. This cover does have a tear in it.
