VOLTS: 110. AMPS: 6, CYC: 60. Voltage is measured in milliamperes. Measures 20.5" x 14.5" x 11.5" and weighs approx. 35 lbs. The dial is pattern NO/64 by Jewel Electrical Instrument Co. 2119. Dr Guy Clifford Powell Cure For Deafness Quack Medical Device Early 20th Century
Wow! This is a well documented and rare piece of medical quackery I have decided to auction on eBay! This machine was introduced in approximately in 1905 as a"cure" for deafness. Made by Dr Powell in Peoria Ill(the home of medical quackery at the time) The object was to send the new technology of electro-vibration through both ear canals to cure deafness. The ear connectors are intact and they even have the cotton swabbing! The salt water soaked ear buds connect to the machine. This piece is a rare find in itself. It has intact the vibratory arm and solenoid coils and the selector switch for intensity. The diaphragm is in poor condition and the nameplate sticker on lid has a black mark- perhaps has the patients name scribbled out. The metal device plate is in Excellent condition The stethoscope is included as well. Rubber deteriorates ... moresince 1905 so it is in pieces. It is all included in the Leatherette case which does have scuffs and wear but the hinges are intact. There are no batteries or instructions. Early 20th Century Metal Wire Leg Brace Splint DePuy Co. Creepy Looking Device
Hello and thanks for looking at our auctions this week.offered this evening is a vintage leg brace or splint. This piece was manufactured by DePuy Manufacturing Company of Warsaw. Indiana. The brace appears to have never been used and still has its original paper tag attached. The piece measures approximately 16" tall and the foot portion measures 7.5" from front to back. The foot portion does adjust with three wing nuts. There is some light wear to this finish in a few spots. But the brace appears to be in very good condition overall with no cracks, breaks, splits or other problems. 20th Century Quack Medical Device Portable Electromagnetic Stimulator
This is an excellent small sized portable electromagnetic/ muscle stimulator machine. It was believed that the power of electricity was a cure for almost anything. It uses a dry cell battery and was actually hooked to a flashlight battery that was housed underneath the device. The wiring for the age is actually in very good condition as is the the mechanics.
