French Terracotta 4" hanging medallion. The figures are of 4 children and a dog playing. One of the figures has his leg broken off. High relief, brown glaze. Twine hanger inserted in holes through medallion. Impressed circular stamp-with leaves around the edge- on the back reads: G. BATI?NA? TERRA COTTA SIGNA and pencilled in#116. I believe it to be old. The broken leg does not detract, but enhances the age quality. Nice piece.

The plaque has the JS mark and#3233 on the back dating this piece to 1900-1933 and it has survived very well. The plaque has a very detailed 3 dimensional image of the German castle with painted highlights. The piece is in very very good condition as I do not see any chips or cracks and only has a few tiny paint chips that are only noticeable upon a close inspection. But for its age the condition is superb(see all photos to verify the condition) This piece measures about 18" across, 2.5" deep, and weighs about 3.5 pounds. Lovely Wileman(Pre Shelley) Trio in Terracotta Clover pattern Square Queen Anne This rare antique trio with number 6559(shape) was manufactured between 1884 and 1888. There are no chips or cracks to edges and the gilding is in very good condition. The cup is 6.5 cms high. Saucer 12.5 cm and plate 17.5 cms wide. The book on Shelley by Sheryl Burdess gives this pattern as 3621. There is a very faint hairline in middle of plate. It is difficult to photograph and the pattern of the terracotta hides the hairline. See 11 and 12 photograph) This is still a lovely trio that displays so well in the white and terracotta colours. Xian Dynasty Terracotta Warrior Horse Statue - Signed Chinese Clay Pottery
This beautiful statue is made of some sort of ceramic earthen ware and stands 5" tall. I have no idea when it was made but it has four Chinese symbols stamped on the base. The Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses are the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century. Work is ongoing at this site. Which is around 1.5 kilometers east of in Lintong. Xian, Shaanxi Province. It is a sight not to be missed by any visitor to China. Upon ascending the throne at the age of 13(in 246 BC) Later the first Emperor of all China, had begun to work for his mausoleum. It took 11 years to finish. It is speculated that many buried treasures and sacrificial objects had accompanied the emperor in his after life. A group of peasants uncovered some pottery while digging for a well nearby the royal tomb in 1974. It caught the attention of archeologists ... moreimmediately. They came to Xian in droves to study and to extend the digs. They had established beyond doubt that these artifacts were associated with the Qin Dynasty(211-206 BC) The State Council authorized to build a museum on site in 1975. When completed. People from far and near came to visit. The Museum of Qin Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses have become landmarks on all visitors' itinerary. Life size terracotta figures of warriors and horses arranged in battle formations are the star features at the museum. They are replicas of what the imperial guard should look like in those days of pomp and vigor. The museum covers an area of 16.300 square meters, divided into three sections: No. 1 Pit, No. 2 Pit, and No. 3 Pit respectively. They were tagged in the order of their discoveries. No. 1 Pit is the largest, first opened to the public on China's National Day, 1979. There are columns of soldiers at the front, followed by war chariots at the back. No. 2 Pit. MMA-TBM Metropolitan Museum of Art Terracotta Pottery Painted Bull Cow Vase Up for sale is a 1993 Metropolitan Museum of Art terracotta pottery bull cow figurine. There's a hold in the center of the back's shoulders-don't know the purpose of the hole on the original piece this is replicating but now it could function as a dried flower vase. The piece is marked MMA-TBM. Anyone know what the TBM stands for. The piece is hand painted and is 7.25" long, 3.75" wide and 5.5" at its tallest. There are no chips, cracks or breaks just some surface rub wear as in the last photo. Here is what appears to be a great pair of 1920's Tedesco period Southern Italy lamps on wrought iron bases. The date is based on the fact that the Ovington Store in New York and Chicago was around during the 1920's. Also. These were likely made as candle holders to simulate a lighthouse. The colors are so vibrant for its age. Each have 2 horsemen decorations. The pottery piece itself stands 11 1/2" tall. The makers mark looks like FA and CC. With unique motifs created in relief or 3D, and enhanced with hand painted natural pigments. item P7 Traditional famous“Vermasse” terracotta pottery from remote East Timor Island. Indonesia one of a kind. You are buying the original old pot(number 5) Seen in first photo as well as the others, and quite large, around 7" X 9" and 25,25" all around. We collected these unusual extremely decorative pots over 25 years. They are not made anymore. Discovered on the premises(long before the Timor war that split the island into 2 took place) these older hand crafted pieces are impossible to find today as whatever still existed at the time the fighting started was broken during the violent conflicts. Completely handcrafted(centuries old process) ... moreand adorned with motifs in relief combined with geometrical designs reminiscent of old American Indian Pottery usually motifs are of men or animals. Gecko for example& hand-painted with local enhancing natural color pigments. It is a unique collector item. A true work of primitive art and extremely decorative. Old pots such as this one below are much prettier than the ones produced today. We have included many close ups of it here. It came from the Vermasse region of Timor and was used by the natives of Manatuto to boil water on an outside fire in order to make it ready for human consumption( water borne diseases are a major problem in East Timor. The traditional solution is still to boil the water to make it safe) This pot. Which was made with a fine red clay mix combined with river sand& rice husk ash sieved thru a fly screen and formed by hand, still bears some charcoal black marks on the outside from the burns of bonfires made from cow manure, burns which add to its charm and authenticity.
