It was hand-crafted in Pakistan or Afghanistan(as far as my notes can tell me) and is approximately 11" x 10" x 3" in depth. Antique Turkestan Glazed Terracotta Plate Green Floral 19th Century An antique Turkestan polychrome glazed terracotta small plate decorated with a green floral design. The edge of the plate is detailed with a superb pie-crest pattern. Such pieces would have formed part of a home's traditional Turkestan tableware; stylistic influence from the Orient. Notably China are very obvious in some pieces and this, as early as the 9th century. Shaped on a very basic potter's wheel. The wares are then glazed and fired in a traditional kiln. The firing is done on a tripod and as a result three visible marks where the glaze is absent are visible at the center of the plate. This is a Unique Terracotta Bull Vessel with what appears to be South American/Indian influence. I have attempted to research it and found that many similar are displayed in museums. But none exactly like this. One of the horns has a chip, and there is a chip missing from the front right leg but there's so much going on your eye doesn't easily distinguish them. It has very nice eye appeal and is enamored with colors like Turquoise, light greens, browns, rustic beiges, seafoam blue, giving it a unique profile. The pictures do not do it justice! An acient Haripunchai period terracotta Buddhist votive amulet relic excavated near present day Lamphun Thailand which was then part of the Kingdom of Hariphunchai. Hariphunchai(or Haribhunjaya) Pali: Haripunjaya) was a Mon kingdom in the north of present Thailand in the centuries before the Thais moved into the area. Its capital was at Lamphun. Which at the time was also called Hariphunchai. In 1292 the city was besieged and captured by the Thai kingdom of Lanna. According to some ancient chronicles. The city was founded by a hermit named Suthep in 661 AD. And the Mon ruler of Lopburi sent his daughter Jamadevi to become its first queen. However. At that time, most of what is now central Thailand was under the rule of various Mon city states, known collectively as the Dvaravati kingdom. Queen Jamadevi gave birth to twins. It is in overall good condition with light fritting to edges here and there along with other signs of expected light wear commensurate with age. Measurements: 2.4"H. 2.45"W, 98"L.
