The tag string is still attached to the creamer. The original pieces are owned by the The Metropolitan Museum of Art. THe original is American Pressed Glass from the mid 19th century and was originally produced by the Sandwich Glassworks Company. I believe the reproductions were made by Imperial Glass for the Museum. I am unable to find any manufacturer marks on the items. Included in the sale. Is the original certificate of Authenticity along with the story of the original glass. The creamer measures 6 1/2 inches tall. It is also called a flower brick. This flower holder is a reproduction of an antique and is perfect for holding a few flower stems- perhaps a candle in the center. It was produced by AMB in Portugal for marketing at the MMA in New York City. This ceramic flower block has 23 holes- one 1/2" large central hole and 22 1/8" smaller holes outlined in blue. The outer rim is a basket weave pattern, sprinkled with flowers and outlined in brown. The designs appear to have been painted on. Here for auction are a pair of 6" ceramic tiles that are in mint condition. From an estate, and feature images taken from a wall hanging painted in 1818 by the Swedish artist Anders Palsson, and based on the biblical theme of The Wedding Feast at Cana. This hanging was acquired in 1953 by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the tiles were an item that could be purchased at one time from the museum. The backing of the tiles is still immaculate, as well as the rest, and there is a buffer piece of cardboard between the two that came with them when purchased. An amazing find and a must have for the collector of ceramic tiles or Swedish art. They are bright and colorful and must be hard to find as I could find little of the artist, the acquisition, or the tiles on the Internet.

I love this jar! The three faces top handle is great! It was made for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the 70's. It can be used for biscuits. 3" tiny william the Hippo Metropolitan Museum of Art figure Charming Vintage This well-formed statuette of a hippopotamus(popularly called"William" demonstrates the Egyptian artist's appreciation for the natural world. It was molded in faience. A ceramic material made of ground quartz. Beneath the blue-green glaze, the body was painted with the outlines of river plants, symbolizing the marshes in which the animal lived. The seemingly benign appearance that this figurine presents is deceptive. To the ancient Egyptians. The hippopotamus was one of the most dangerous animals in their world. The huge creatures were a hazard for small fishing boats and other rivercraft. The beast might also be encountered on the waterways in the journey to the afterlife. As such, the hippopotamus was a force of nature that needed to be propitiated ... moreand controlled, both in this life and the next. This example was one of a pair found in a shaft associated with the tomb chapel of the steward Senbi II at Meir, an Upper Egyptian site about thirty miles south of modern Asyut. Three of its legs have been restored because they were purposely broken to prevent the creature from harming the deceased. The hippo was part of Senbi's burial equipment, which included a canopic box(also in the Metropolitan Museum) a coffin, and numerous models of boats and food production.

RARE ANTIQUE 1900 SYRIAN SILK PURPLE SILVER SHAWL,METROPOLITAN MUSEUM, TAPESTRY
RARE LOVELY SYRIAN SILK AND METALLIC SILVER SHAWL FROM METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART NEW YORK CITY This is a very beautiful twill weave Moroccan or Syrian shawl from the early 20th century. It was de-accessioned from the Metropolitan Museum and beautifully cared for there. The design is very geometric and abstract. With a diamond central medallion, gul type motifs woven into the field, and a beautiful border pattern of chevrons and almost floral ideas. The shawl has elaborate silk and metallic wrapped thread tassels that are quite long and lovely. From the back of the shawl(see photo 11) you can see how delicately woven this is with minimal stitching into the fine silk. The shawl is very light and soft to the touch. Made from light but substantial silk. The only silk weavers that could have produced this, I believe, are from either Syria or ... moreMorocco. I have not been able to find a similar shawl, but the aba robes of Syria are very similar in material, but not in weave. If you look into the Metropolitan Museum of Art Collection catalogue, check out C.I.41.110.108 in the inventory. Very similiar and said to be from Morocco. Not all shawls are equal! This shawl has a remarkably wonderful array of jewel like colors. Woven very beautifully. The dominant colors are purple and silvery gold. The purple contains a quantity of indigo. So there is a kind of iridescence in the color, moving from purple to indigo to red to brown as the light moves across it. The exquisite harmony of the design and fine color of this shawl makes it unusually beautiful quality. It measures 47 inches square. With 13 inch elaborate tassels. It is very clean and has no smells and is soft to the touch. The color is unfaded. There are no holes. Bites, mends. Amazing condition for this shawl. The shawl is in stable, strong condition. The selvedge is intact on two sides. I have expertise in textiles. Especially Indian and European shawls. This is a beautiful treasure from the best Museum collection of textiles in the US. It was purchased at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1993 and was part of a limited edition of legitimate reproductions of the work of an English potter. Clarice Cliff who worked from 1916 to 1929 in this art deco style. This is an exact copy of the original. This piece was hand painted in the Philippines. The bottom stamp ensures its validity and copy rite.
