The handwork is magnificent with intricately hand chased flowers, leaves, clovers, and thistles in a scroll work design- these adorning the case on all 6 sides. Rare American Coin Silver Forks by J& W Moir. Set of 9 Antique Forks. Highly Collectible Pre Civil War forks from the Low to mid 1800s with the Fiddle Thread pattern. Makers marks are clearly visible and the forks are in Excellent condition. Forks are rarer to find. As they did not survive over time as easily as spoons and knives. They are all monogrammed BG and all have the makers marks J& W Moir on back. Each measures 7” I have not polished them. As some collectors prefer original condition. Presented is a fine set of 6 Southern made coin silver American large heavy table spoons by Baltimore silversmith. Andrew Ellicott Warner. These spoons were made between 1850- 1860. Along with a late 19th century shell shaped serving spoon in the same pattern marked sterling by Hennegan, Bates& Co of Baltimore, the shell of the serving spoon is gold wash. The spoons are done in the Mayflower pattern a early American pattern. The fronts are engraved with flowers and scrolls a great example of quality early American engraving. The set is very sturdy and heavy. Three spoons are marked on the reverse with the maker’s mark A.E. Warner 11 and the three other spoons are marked Warner 11 for Andrew Ellicott Warner of Baltimore. Maryland, and 11 for the Baltimore silver purity mark for 11/12 silver purity or 916 silver, very close to sterling ... morepurity, and higher than coin silver purity. The spoons test 920 silver. The spoons are Monogrammed on the front and descended in the Rogers family of Baltimore, Maryland. The table spoons measure 9" inches in length and the shell serving spoon is 8" 1/2. Good condition. You are bidding on a great old large size coin silver sugar tong in a Coffin pattern made by Oakes& Spencer in Hartford Connecticut circa 1815. The piece is hallmarked O&S on both arms which you can see in the pictures below and it is large measuring 7 1/8" long by 1 7/8" wide by 1 1/8" thich on top of the handle. The tong is in pristine condition with no damage. Repairs or abuse of any kind and the finish is original with a nice warm lightly tarnished patina. There is a Maria Danforth cursive monogram on top of the handle and it has a good weight for coin silver weighing 56 grams.
