This auction is for a Fantastic Antique Wood and Cast Iron Combination School Chair and Desk with children's names carved in long ago. The cast iron legs have a neat Victorian Scroll design and are marked Buffalo New York and with the number 3 and three patent dates from 1881. 1890 and 1897. The piece oozes nostalgia with wood that has a great. Rich patina. Among the carved names are"Joyce" and"Jack" and other pictures. Including something that looks like a flower. The desk has a shelf beneath the desktop. The desktop itself has a well for pencils and a hole for an ink well. The piece was a recent purchase from an estate sale near Harrisburg. Pa. It is sturdy in all respects with a seat that folds up smoothly. ca 1900 copper, tin & cast iron rooster weathervane w. oversized rooster
Offered here without reserve is this ca 1900 rooster weathervane. The rooster and rod he stands on is copper. The arrow and vertical pole are cast iron, the rest is tin. The silver paint appears to be the only coat on this vane. Most importantly, though, notice tha the rooster is over-sized(or at least larger than the cows and horses common to such manufactured vanes) It alone measures 13 1/2" high x 11" wide, whereas the vane overall measures 31 1/2" wide, 26 1/2" high. Picture 5 shows that I've removed(un-soldered) the cone at the top so that the rooster& arroow can be removed for ease of packing. The cone however slips back on nicely and there is no need to re-solder it. Lot 2x 9-Inch Cast Iron Flywheels with Bearings and Axles + One-Way Rollers
Two 9-inch cast iron flywheels with bearings and steel axles. One got left outside overnight and got a light surface rust. It looked exactly like the other one before that. The U-shaped bolt tightens the axle to the flywheel. The black rubber rollers turn only one way. They have roller bearings(see the picture) They operate silently. All the axle bearings are high quality and smooth running. The pieces on one side of one axle wont slide off like the rest. I won't try removing it. These can be powered by a belt on either of the black rollers or on the flywheel groove. This wheel has a rustic look that makes it a great addition to a collection of wheels decorating your home or garden. Match Safe Striker Victorian cast iron 1871 patent cook stove era desk organizer A great old antique match safe made from cast iron with fancy decorations. It could be reused as a knick knack cup or a fancy way to hold your paper clips. Every kitchen had a cook stove in the old days. The home owner kept their matches high. Dry and handy with a match safe. There are match strikers on the base that were used to light the strike anywhere matches. Made from cast iron in the late 1800's because of the 1871 patent date on the bottom. The 3 cast parts are held together with a pin in the base which is a little loose allowing the part to wiggle some. The iron has pitted from the sulpher used in the matches. Penn Antique Restoration. Antique Greek Revival Iron Entry Door Set Pull Handle Lock. What a rare find! This grand. Exterior door lockset was made by"P.F. Corbin Mfg. Co. of New Britain, CT around the turn of the previous century. It consists of 2 iron pulls(2 large back plates, 2 thumb latches, 2 handles) 1 iron mortise lock, 1 brass strike plate for the door jamb, and 2 nuts, 2 washers, and 2 bolts to secure the pulls. All parts are solid, heavy, and thick cast iron, not stamped or pressed wrought iron. Originally, the pulls were copper plated, however, most of the plating wore off of one of the pulls and some of the plating wore off of the other, leaving the parts with a nice distressed look. Many times. Sets like this are used only to keep a door closed and to look pretty, so we didn't make a key for the lock. However, if you ... morealso need the set for security, we should be able to make a key. The first key would cost $10- $20, and each additional key would cost $10-email us after the auction if you are interested. Each pull has a lovely. Neo-Grec style, egg and dart border. The set was salvaged from Southwestern Minnesota. At the point of salvage. The beauty of the pulls is only matched by their superb condition! Aside from the typical small nicks& light scratches here and there. Which are common for 100+ year old hardware; all parts a free of breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or deep scratches. Someone widened the keyhole on the pull with less plating. It's not a flaw. Which affects the structural integrity or function of the pull, just more of a permanent, visual quirk, like someone carving their name on a desk top. This is a Arts& Crafts cast iron magazine stand. It has a nice geometric design and is very heavy. The stand is collapsible(see pictures) and will be shipped flat. It is designed to fit together through slats in the cast iron. Very sturdy. I believe it is cast iron because of the weight, 6 pounds and 11 ounces. The stand measures approximately 9 1/2" wide 14" tall and 11" deep. This piece would be a nice addition to an Arts& Crafts decor. The stand is in good vintage condition, no cracks or chips. There are many places where the rod iron has been rubbed there are some scratches mostly where stand is put together, photo 9 shows manufacture flaw. Please see pictures. Offered here is an original new-old-stock never used Pelton Water Wheel twin cup. Used for pushing water along in a quick fashion around a wheel to power whatever it is you wish to power by water. In this case a water wheel at a remote Colorado mine in the Leadville Mining District. Cast iron construction. measures 7.0 x 9.0 x 3.50. Measurement between the area it would have been attached to a wheel measures 1 1/8" Weighs a hefty ten pounds or so. The cups would catch the flow of water from a stream or diverted water source and push the wheel around in revolutions sometimes exceeding hundreds per minute.
