Bronze Asian 17th century BC, Shang Dynasty, Engraved sword (old sword)
Bronze Age swords appear from around the 17th century BC. In the Black Sea region and the Aegean, evolving out of the dagger. They are replaced by the Iron Age sword during the early part of the 1st millennium BC. From an early time the swords reach lengths in excess of 100 cm. The technology to produce blades of such lengths apperas to have been developed in the Aegean. Using alloys of copper and tin or arsenic, around 1700 BC. Typical Bronze Age swords had lengths of roughly between 60 and 80 cm, while weapons significantly shorter than 60 cm also continued to be made, but are variously categorized as"short swords" or as daggers. Before 1400 BC or so, swords remain mostly limited to the Aegean and southeastern Europe, but they become more widespread in the final centuries of the 2nd millennium, to Central Europe and Britain, to ... morethe Near East, Central Asia, Northern India and to China. Sword production in China is attested from the Bronze Age Shang Dynasty. From roughly 1200 BC. The technology for bronze swords reached its highpoint during the Warring States period and Qin Dynasty(221 BC– 207 BC) Amongst the Warring States period swords, some unique technologies were used, such as casting high tin edges over softer, lower tin cores, or the application of diamond shaped patterns on the blade(see the sword of Gou Jian) Also unique for Chinese bronzes is the consistent use of high tin bronze(17-21% tin) which is very hard and breaks if stressed too far, whereas other cultures preferred lower tin bronze(usually 10% which bends if stressed too far. Although iron swords were made alongside bronze, it wasn't until the early Han Dynasty that iron completely replaced bronze, making China the last place where bronze was used in swords. I beleave this sword to be from the 17th century. It is very old and solid bronze. There are ancient characters Engraved in the swords blade and sleeve. Antique Solid Silver Dolls House Miniature Hanau 17th Century Rocking Chair 1910
Antique German Hanau Solid Silver Dolls House Miniature Rocking Chair by Friedrich Reusswig cir 1910 This Antique Dolls House Miniature Chair measures approximately 1 1/8 inches or 29 mm across the width of the seat from one side to the other by just over 1 3/4 inches or 45 mm across the length of its rockers from back to front and it stand 2 inches or 51 mm tall to the top of the chair back. The chair is made from solid silver in the delightful form of a 17th century European rocking chair and it stands on two rockers that have raised relief scrolled foliate decorated leg supports. It has a square seat with a straight back that has a roll top with relief floral motif decorated scroll ends and the seat along with the back have been delightfully embossed or raised relief and engrave decorated as photographed below, the rocking chair has Not ... morebeen engraved with a previous owners initials or family monogram and although we have found no silver marks as such the chair has been tested and it is guaranteed as being made from solid silver however the lower back rail has been impressed with the German Hanau silversmith or makers marks of Friedrich Reusswig whose marks are recorded as being used from 1903- 1926 again as photographed below, I estimate that this dolls house miniature rocking chair was made circa 1910. The condition is used and near Mint for its age. The rocking chair has No Dents. No Splits, No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the chair stands upright, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the impressed makers marks are still legible although as the rocking chair is a used antique it does have the obvious signs that it was hand made and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a good clean would enhance it greatly. Personally I think that this antique miniature rocking chair would make a superb addition to any dolls house or cabinet collection and that it looks fantastic considering it's at least 100 or so year

Up for bid is an antique wood and brass box. I'm not an expert but from what I could gather it appears to date from the 17th or 18th Century. It may have been used as a ship captain's chest or strong box or a writing box. It has a number of internal compartments including one that locked. There is also one that looks like it would have held pen quills. The wood is quite dark and very hard and dense and the brass is hand wrought. ANTIQUE 17th CENTURY NUREMBERG COPPER NOSE SPECTACLES PINCE NEZ MUSEUM QUALITY
Up for auction is a very rare 16th-17th century pair of nose spectacles. Or pince nez. These spectacles are in great condition for their age. The specs were most likely made in Nuremberg, Germany, in the late 1500s to mid 1600s. The spectacles are made out of one piece of copper wire. One of the wires holding the lens in has broken off, but that can be easily fixed with thin metal wire. They don't come in its original case. I was going to make a case, but I ran out of time, so it will come in a hard metal case from the 1920s. There is some green corrosion on the frames, but that is expected for being around 500 years old. I will be out of town until Wed the 19th, so I may not answer questions immediately.

This all steel stiletto was made in Brescia Italy in the mid 17th century. Brescia has a history of arms manufacturing and a tradition of generations of skilled tradesmen who support the industry. Some of the finest metal work in its history was produced in the 17th century when chiseled. Pierced and etched decoration enhanced swords, daggers and armor. The dagger was historically considered a weapon for men of low station, untrained in sword skills. In the 16th century, it became more popular in several forms, however, the stiletto was still considered a tool of secrecy, intrigue and deception. Antique Woodland Indian Wooden Hewed Bowl 17th Century Great Condition for Age!
We offer for sale Antique Woodland Indians Wooden Hewed Bowl. Great condition for age. Recently purchased from a Vermont attic having a history of being made by Native Americans. Probably late 18 th Century. Appears to be butternut wood from our virgin forest, also being hand hewed and not made on a lathe as the settlers made. The thickness of the wood varies as you would expect. It is very heavy weighting over 5 pounds. If you look carefully at the interior of the bowl you can see where it was hewn. The top rim is ¾ inch thick; the inside sloping sides are 7 to 7 ½ inches long. Depending on which side you measure! It is 14 ¼ to 15 inches across the top; the bottom circle is 5 ¾ inches and the bowl stand 4 ½ inches high. Condition: no cracks or chips. Wonderful uncleaned original surface! I have been told it is Algonquian ... morebut my Abenaki friend says it is their work. So you make up your mind; but it is definitely Native American. The chopper is marked“Gilla7” on the blade. Which is 5 7/8 inches long. The wooden handle is 4 inches long. Note: this chopper has been with this bowl from early times; it could be made by a settler blacksmith. Up for auction is an antique from the 16th or 17th century- a Kol kohl/powder make up dish box container used by the Riffian Berbers. The box is in very good condition for its age. It does have some dents. It is 6" in diameter and approximately 1/2" thick. It is hand chased with an intricate floral design on the top and bottom. It is hand hammered and has some type of chalky residue inside- this may be oxidation from age. The Riffians are a Berber ethnic group who inhabit the Rif in northern Morocco. When it was purchsed. The woman who gave me the information was very proud of this as it was in her family for many years.
