Up for sale is a real 17th cetury Samurai sword/katana. I recieved this sword form a older gentleman when i was in college. I did blacksmithing and other metalwork in college as a hobby.i was blacksmithing a sword at the time at my dads mechanic shop when he comes over and He said"it might be more use to you. Than it is to me"and handed me the sword. The story i got after he died was that he won it in a poker game in 1980.thats the story. i had no belief it was a fake so i got it appraised and looked at by 3 different companies. they all said the same thing. That it is 100% real and that the signature says"Minamoto Nobukuni Heishiro Yoshimasa" He was a Samurai sword maker who worked around 1652.so I do know for a fact that it is indeed a 17th century sword. the sword has seen better years it has dark spots and pits in ... moreit from blood splatter on the sword. Sancai Glazed Kylin Table Screen Authentically Ming 14th-17th Century
This is a Ming Dynasty(1368-1644) Sancai glazed table screen consisting of the ceramic screen and its matching ceramic stand. An almost identical table screen that was also damaged was auctioned last year by Christie's in their Decorative Arts Sale 2-3 October 2012 in Amsterdam as Sale 3010. Lot 287. In fact, the screen in the Christie's auction and the one being offered here are so similar, it is hard to believe that both screens were not made by the same kiln. Although the screen in the Christie's auction is modeled with a pair of spotted deer and a pair of cranes whereas the screen in this auction models a Chinese traditional Kylin. The screens are so similar they look like they belong to the same set with both screens being of identical size(32 cm high which is about 12 1/2 inches high) The screen in Christie's auction ... moresold for $3,227.00 USD despite the fact it was damaged and had losses. Cast in the form of a truncated, four-sided pyramid of rectangular shape, with sides sloping inward to the flat top with two pierced holes for suspension of the clapper. The bell is surmounted with two strap-like handles. The sides are adorned with faces of inverted triangle shape with long narrow noses and protruding chins, these features make them look more Caucasian European rather than African. Each edge is highlighted by a rope patterned string with small knobs at all corners. CONDITION: The bell is in its original condition with beautiful natural dark patina. Missing clapper. 17th century Schiavona Rapier sword. The guard is marked in 2 areas with appears to be the stamp of Saint Mark's Cathedral in Venice Italy. you can make out a halo and face) Although the pommel doesn't match the typical Schiavona type. It matches the age/patina of the rest of the sword. The grip is original. So this might either be a very early replacement or made for an individual that wanted to customize the pommel to their needs. The typical pommel would probably get caught on clothing, horse harnesses etc, and might not allow to fully outreach the point of your sword parallel to the arm. The hilt is quite sturdy. nothing is lose. The blade is pitted but robust. The tip of the sword was probably cut down a bit but the pitting is quite old which means it was cut down the beginning of it's military life. The blade has many sword ... moreblade nics. This is a Best Offer Auction is for the 17th or 18th Century"Faux Ivory" WHALING HARPOON HEAD from Alaska Eskimo as shown in the photographs provided This is not a reproduction piece and is 100% Genuine The piece feels petrified and is quite large measuring 3 5/16" in length(tip to tip) and 3/4" wide at it's widest section Contacted a expert with photographs in Alaska for her opinion~ What you have appears to be an unfinished harpoon point. It is probably made of fossilized walrus ivory and probably comes from Alaska. It is consistent with Alaskan harpoon points from the 18th and 19th centuries. As you can see. The ivory portion was not actually the point itself- there would have been a slot at the end into which a slate blade was inserted. In addition, there would have been a mechanism for the point to be attached ... moreto the shaft with some freedom of motion. In many cases, the point would have been decorated with engraving. You can see on your point where someone started working on the groove to hold the slate blade. Your piece was not finally shaped. And the attachment to the shaft is not complete. A wonderful early 17th century silver piece of eight or 8 Reales cob coin salvaged from the famous Rill Cove shipwreck. The infamous Lizard silver wreck was found in Kynance. Cornwall. It is believed that the unidentified ship sank sometime around 1618 carrying large quantities of silver bars and Spanish coins. The coins mostly originate from Peru and Mexico and all are from the reigns of King Philip II and Philip II of Spain, thus representing the earlier coins minted by the Spanish in the New World. Coins from this wreck are often fairly deteriorated due to the conditions of the sea in this area and the constantly shifting sand banks that cover the wreck. The wreck was discovered in 1973 when Ken Simpson and Mike Hall were diving on the wrecked trawler Kerris Reed and spotted some iron guns beneath the wreckage. Condition: Fair. Beautiful Renaissance 16th - 17th Century Silver Gilt Cupid Intaglio Pendant
On offer is this most delighful 17th century silver gilt pendant set with an intaglio of Cupid. The pendant retains around 95% of its original buttery yellow mercurial gold gilding. The base of the pendant has lost part of the original openwork design that would have contained suspended pearl drops(you can still see one of the suspension rings though the other two are missing) The foiled garnet intaglio depicts a standing Cupid(Eros) holding a victory wreath. Due to the quality of the stone and the cutting style I would date it to the Roman period. Antique Roman stones were often reusued from the Renaissance through to the 17th century in exquisite jewellery like this. The Royal Collection has a similar example set with cameos dated to the mid 1550's( CLICK HERE) It was very fashionable for the elite to collect intaglios and cameos. Offered here for sale is a wonderful authentic. Early Indian Firangi Sword, dating to the late 17th or early 18th century. It features a fullered blade of approximately 36" in length, and measures 43" overall. Condition is good, considering its age- and use- this was a"working" sword!
