They've been in air conditioned storage since that time. These were commonly used by the medical profession. They are rare. That's for sure. The finish of the paint is still in remarkable condition, though they still need a thorough cleaning. Many of the pictures show the shiny surface of the paint, which was manufactured by DuPont. The metal surface was prepared and sprayed with a rust proofer by the Parker Rust Proof Co, with their product called Bonderite. From the"How to care for SIMMONS FURNITURE guide" SIMMONS FURNITURE protected and enhanced with Du Pont satin-finished HI-BAKE DULUX. SIMMONS Steel furniture is specially finished with Hi-Bake DULUX for outstanding beauty and durability. DULUX is an exceptionally hard finish with excellent moisture resistance that protects against rust or corrosion. With proper care. SIMMONS furniture remains beautifully new for years. Overall condition is good. The drawers are in good condition. With the top drawers showing a little rust on the inside. The second drawer down has only a small amount of rust showing, and the bottom drawer shows no rust. The drawer guides could use some graphite to restore the smooth fluid movement of opening and closing. Each piece has it's own forgivings. I tried my best to display in detail the extent of the abrasions. Dents and scratches. Examine the pictures carefully. If you need larger pics, or perhaps a different view, contact me and I'll send you the requested pics asap. The footstool's fabric is intact- no rips. Tears, holes or cracks and the material is soft and pliable. Someone removed what appears to be shipping tape- and that managed to remove some of the color in a small area which is more noticeable in the pictures than in person. Original tags still attached-reads-made ... moreby Bernhardt Furniture Co. Lenoir, North Carolina-the underside of the table is also stamped: Oval Table-Cherry-29-etc. Made of Cherry wood-medium, chestnut brown stain allows for much of the grain in the wood to show. Set consisted of table with removable center piece-5 regular chairs and one captain's chair with arms-hutch and buffet. I bought these 20 years ago and now am getting different furniture. I had the seats professionally reupholstered long ago to match my decor(olive green/goldish print)I have always kept seat pads on the chairs when in use-so the seats are in great condition. Table measures 58" x 40" x 30 1/2" tall-with an additional center piece that measures 12" wide. The Hutch is 47" x 15" x 70" tall. The Buffet is 57" x 17 1/2" x 30 1/3" tall. Overall very nice condition-normal wear for being 84 years old. Some things I would mention are that the wood color of the center piece section is darker than the rest of the table, it was like that when I bought it-possible meant for contrast or maybe because it was stored out of the light)also a slice of the corner wood has broken off as can be seen the the picture-back rt corner of section. Also-a bit of wood had chipped off the top corner of the table leg(tiny but I mention it to be exact-not seen from the top) The legs screw off with attachment bolts to remove them for storage. Also, one chair missing a decorative wood curve on front leg-shown in pic. Also- scratch on table top-6" and 1 1/2"shown in last pic. If I missed something-please ask. The color of the hutch in the first pic is the true color-rich and beautiful. The veneer is the older thicker cuts and not like the 70's models that was thin veneer over particle board. These have solid nagogany sprons or frames with pretty slender solid magohany legs. They would add interest& charm to any room. They Look Good stacked or you can set them around seperately. When needed. The largest table is 18 1/4" X 13 3/8" and is 19 5/8" tall. This is a wonderful matching pair of vintage. French Provincial end tables by the Wm. A. Berkey Furniture Company Established in 1881, a Division of the John Widdicomb Company. Both of these tables are in magnificent condition. Each measures 27” x 21” and stand 22” high and they both have a small brass, tin or copper plate attached to the bottom bearing the manufacture’s name. Louis the XV Coffee and End Tables Red Leather Tops Cloverleaf Design
Louis XI 1920-1930's era would be my best guess. Looks like mahogany wood but I am not an expert. In good condition considering their age. The leather tops red. Are in nice shape with no tears but the man whom I purchased them from had put four pieces on each item of something to let the air get under the glass. So there are four little marks on each piece where the leather was pushed down as pic shows. I am picky and would use them if I needed them. The custom glass tops fpor all three pieces have protected the leather but all of the glass is scratched. If you use the glass you can put dolies on them or dispose of the glass. The legs have some scratches but scratch cover does cover them. The coffee table measures accross the top 41-3/4" long x 21-3/4' AT WIDEST POINT. Stands 18-1/2" tall and to the top of the bottom shelf ... more8-3/4" The two end tables stand 28-1/4" tall x 15-1/4" to the bottom shelf.
