Crafted with entirely solid mahogany primary woods chosen for their brilliant grain displays. Both table top surfaces are full planks of mahogany, deeply patinated with wonderful oxidization dancing beneath the warm glowing and quite early finish, lifting on hand forged hinges with original screws. A single drawer slides easily in and out of the frame, hand dovetailed front and back with what appears to be the original pierced brass hardware, all framed inside of cockbead molding that surrounds the drawer. The table rests over square marlboro legs, chamfered on the interior corner to lighten the overall appearance of the legs, these terminating in molded feet. The back leg swings over a knuckle joint on a very thick and heavy oak gate leg, appearing to be red oak, pinned to the leg with double pegs locking the tenon-mortise joint. Double pegs are also visible at both corners of the back of the table, and when the leg opens it reveals the clean dovetailed frame, these quite distinctive and perfectly matching the drawer. This is a wonderful find for the serious collector of Pennsylvania furniture. As well as the decorator looking for a highly versatile and absolutely gorgeous functional work of art. Working for any number of design settings, as a serving table in the dining room, a hallway table with a chair on either side, as a small desk in the library or as a functional card table, this piece is incredibly sturdy and is meant to be used. With a deep and glowing patina in the well preserved finish, stunning full boards of mahogany and the elegance highlighted in the fretwork and chamfered molded legs, this is a very fine piece for any formal home. The chair shown to give a sense of scale Item# 110105PII25 This is a remarkably well preserved English Georgian Mahogany Kneehole Desk from the third quarter of the 18th century. It is crafted of well figured solid single boards of Mahogany on the top and sides- there is no veneer on this desk. Just solid boards of full grain mahogany. A simply molded edge runs the perimeter of the top, each corner scalloped. Each drawer is hand dovetailed front and back, with thin oak frame construction and thin oak drawer bottoms- all drawers are fully original and lack any adjustments and restorations to the secondary construction. Glowing hand forged brass hardware adorns each drawer. Appearing to have never been removed from the piece. Inside each drawer, as well as the tiny door in the kneehole area, silver metal locks are secured and functional. Each lock appears to be original, each uniquely cut on the right hand corner for all small drawers- it would appear the craftsman was presented with the challenge of making the lock of his choice fit the small space in conjunction with the pull hardware, and overcame this but cutting the corners of each lock. Hand made screws are visible throughout the lock hardware. While we cannot say for certain if the key is original, it is of the period, hand made and very similar in metal color to that of the locks. Each drawer is lip-molded and slides flawlessly in and out of the desk. Just below the top drawer is a secret drawer compartment. Appearing to be part of the frame design, but actually pulls outward smoothly as an extra hand dovetailed drawer. The wide top drawer pulls out to reveal a full dust shelf. Antique Shabby & Chic French Paris Apartment Extension Table/Chairs + 2 x Tables
Up for auction is this antique dining setting. It is very shabby chic in style and is quite an unusual setting. It consists of an 8 seater table with 8 matching chairs plus 2 extra tables. The 2 extra tables can be used at the end of the large table to make it more like a 10-12 seater or they can be put together to form a round table(most likely for placing children at a separate table) The 2 smaller ones can also be used by themselves as hall tables or in the dining room as servery tables. I have never seen a set like it before. It is made of solid wood(I am no expert in wood types but I think it may be walnut? and has lovely dovetailed joins. The setting has all handcarved pieces on the legs and feet and it stands on cabriole legs with hairy ball and claw feet. But stools such as the two we show here were the primary seating in most Qing Dynasty(1644-1911) homes. Chairs were mostly reserved for the very wealthy. I also found out that an easy trick to discern the earlier stools from the later variety is that the lower to the ground the stool is. The earlier the date. Stools became higher with successive years and European influence. Another intriguing clue is that style. Shape and joinery techniques varied by region and province back when these were made. These differences and differences in woods used can identify age and province of origin for most of these antique Chinese stools and benches. And I can tell it by the shape and the use of the wood, I am still in the process of trying to to determine their provenance. Tables show the signature Jalk conical legs and fasteners but what sets these apart is the inverted tops. Unusually the bulldozed edge is on the top surface whereas on this pair they are on the bottom. This appears to be original and there are no signs of the tops being flipped and the veneer grain on the underside is in fact mahogany indicating it was meant to be on the bottom. This auction is for a very nice set of"Butterfly" pattern"Biltmore" stacking tables. 6 tables in all. Made in Mid 1950ies by Biltmore Manufacturing of Miami 47. Florida. They are all in near excellent condition. One table leg as seen in picture has been glued back in place. Very nice clean repair on the leg. Height of tables is 17 inches. Each side of the tables measures 22 inches. Legs are made of aluminum. Legs screw on the table. Aluminum{gold colored} edging on tables Missing about 10 floor glides. For being any age these tables show very light wear. For shipping purposes I will remove the legs. They easily screw off and back on. They also have a nice feature. Vintage GLASS Brunswick Balke Collender Advertising Door Push Pool Tables RARE
Hi. You are bidding on a vintage glass advertising door push from the Brunswick Balke Collender Co. The push is about 12 inches long. It is etched and engraved from the back. The company was formed from 3 companies and this is the Brunswick which grew into the pool table manufactures of today. There are screw holes at the top and bottom and it looks like the piece probably was applied to a colored background of some kind. It is VERY difficult to take pictures of clear glass pieces. The top and bottom have engraved backs around the screw holes which give it a frosted look. The writing looks to be acid etched from the back. The push does show some use and there is a chip at the bottom right next to the word Collender. There is a smaller chip at the top left near the engraved area. The bottom is mildly discolored from having thousands of hands ... morepush against it. I havent tried to clean it with anything very strong. I will let the buyer experiment. For sale is a set(2) Mid Century Modern Blonde 3 tier end accent tables. They look like Heywood Wakefield's but have an artistic touch like James Mont's.I can not be sure who made them. Just that they are very rare and most likely late 1950's to 1960's. I looked for hours and can find no tables that match these. They are heavy and strong.I guess about 70 pounds each. 34 inches deep. From wall out. 22 3/4 tall,and 19 inches tall. There are no cracks breaks or repairs. There are signs of use, scuffs light scratches ect.I would grade these at an 8.5 out of 10. A super cool look and very rare. As I said I spent hours looking and never found these tables. They are veneered.
