Set of Nesting Tables Mahogany Contemporary Classic Ferguson Bros Hoboken NJ
This is a nice set of nesting tables made by the Ferguson Bros. Mfg Co in Hoboken NJ around 1930s. 1940s. Ferguson Bros made furniture in NJ from 1898 thru 1953. This is a classic style that never goes out and can be used in traditional. Mid century or antique settings any time. The set is in very good structural condition. The 3 tables are in great shape. There is some ware and scratches due to age, nothing serious. The top of the two smaller tables is in good condition. The bigger table has some spots and/or scratches that I pictured up-close. The second table has a slight repair on the top of the leg. Right where the other table goes in that was professionally done and is not a problem or even visible unless you look underneath very closely. The screws in the larger table are original. The others have been replaced. As I understand by ... moreusing these type of tables on carpet the legs get wobbly so the were taken apart and re-glued and the screws replaced. The three piece set is in amazingly EXCELLENT condition! Each piece features a three legged empire design. Pillared on a black wooden base the legs of each piece are made of black metal and brass. The tables are made of wood with removable genuine Italian Carrara marble tops. The largest piece of marble is signed. I didn't check for a stamp on the underside of the marble on the end tables. But the set is all original matching marble) The edges of the tables have a brass trim. The lamps are removable as well and both are in working condition(see photo below of lights on) with their original wiring and cords(see photo below) To hook up the lamps you twist two wires together ... moreto make the electrical connection. I have the original caps to the wire ends as well(see last photo) The flaws on the set are minuscule. Two Heywood Wakefield living room end tables are up for auction. Structurally both are in great condition. The tops have been refinished and they do not match each other. They were in the champagne finish originally. One is lighter than the other. The larger table looks wonderful. The smaller table shows some stain drips on the side shown in the last picture on the side of the small table. The larger table(24 wide by 26 long by 25 1/2 high inches) was sold I believe as a TV table but today would serve really well as a table joining a sofa and love seat or chair combination. Wrought iron tables with leaf and flower top covered with a thick glass insert. Tables measure approximately 12" x 12" wide x 23" wide. Has light wear as pictured. Great condition for its age. So ornate and detailed- outstanding. There are a few minor scratches to the glass tops but I do not consider them serious. No chips or cracks in thick. Tempered glass tops.
