Height to writing surface is 27" at front, 29" at back, has 18" wide by 5 1/4" deep raised compartment with hinged lid. Has four drawers, each with two pulls that open on the RH side, false fronts and pulls on LH side, each drawer 11" wide by 4 1/4" high by 16" deep. Has two inside drawers under writing surface. All surfaces except turnings have pecan burled veneer, narrow inlay on top and front, porcelain casters" This desk is in very good to excellent condition for it's age-see pictures. Has split on writing surface(see pictures) split not full width of surface. This'split' has not changed in length or depth during our family's decades-long possession of the desk. Has non-functioning'latch' To hold top partially open, not sure of purpose. Note that all four elevations are completely finished. The workmanship, finish and attention to detail and decoration are from another era! Local pickup. Or I will work with packing/shipping company of your choice. The shelves are loose within the bookshelf / Vitrine section and also within the secretary slant front portion, but the glass is intact within the door. The secretary has an amazing custom cut beveled mirror with a 1-inch bevel, that is on the top at the right side and lovely carved details and applied accents all throughout. The backing on the mirror is a bit loose, but this should be an easy fix. The piece is lockable, however, there is no key with it. It also has the original metal hardware, which is absolutely incredible and ornate as well. There is a lot of light staining and wear as well as scratches and dings to the finish.

There is a name and year written on the bottom of the desk, but it is very faint and can only be seen while hold the desk at a certain angle to the light. I tried to capture the writing in a picture, but could only get the first part of the name. The name stands out the most. The rest of the writing, I believe would be where the owner lived and the year is much fainter. It looks like Maggie C Farr(something) something) 1876 or 1896. The box measures about 11 ¼” x 7 3/4” x 3 ½” closed) Opened and lying flat the desk measures about 16” long. The inside bottom felt writing surface that lifts up is tight and strong while the top felt writing surface that lifts up is wiggly, but still very much intact. Very nice old lap desk. Large lot of misc. architectural pieces. Circa 19th century. All have deeply bevelled. Recessed panels. There are 2 matched pairs and 2 individuals. One individual has bottom trim and ornate see-through fretwork. The other single has top and bottom trim with carved center crest. They all have gothic flair. May be made of walnut, but not positive. Winner gets all 6 Victorian pieces shown. For size reference, the panel at lower left measures 19 5/8 inches wide and 15 1/4 inches tall and upper left measures 21 3/8 inches by 8 1/2 inches. Dates from the 1930s–40s. This appears to be all solid mahogany. This has breadboard ends to support the drop down lid. Drop the lid down to expose a wonderful detailed interior that consists of multiple drawers and multiple cubbyholes. A carved raised panel center door and two cleverly disguised hidden compartments behind flame finial spindles. The writing surface is really large There are some nicks and dings due to use and age of the piece. The four drawers underneath the writing surface are all dovetail and all oxbow. This Berkey& Gay dining set consists of a 3-leaf table. 8 chairs, 1 china hutch, 1 buffet and 1 sideboard. It is made of walnut, with many sections being bookmatched figured walnut- absolutely beautiful. All pieces are matching, and feature the metal medallion used in Berkey& Gay's furniture from the 1920's-1940's. Our best guess is that these pieces were made in the 20's. They're in excellent condition for this vintage. You'll see some very slight damage, shown in the last 4 photos. The table is pictured with only 2 leaves in place, the 3rd is leaning against the wall near the china hutch. The Berkey and Gay furniture Company of Grand Rapids. The brass label was used starting around the 1920's until Berkey and Gay went out of business in the 1940's. Please note that it is not uncommon to find both brass and paper labels used during the same era. Especially on dining room suites where the Berkey& Gay paper labels were quite often used to mark the dining chairs. This has been a wonderful addition to my shop near the bench for working on projects and taking a break. The chair is completely functioning mechanical wise. Up/ down/ swivel/back ajust/ and the feet are not worn through. Other than being from the 60s and had a hot bolt dropped on the seat.melted in about an 1/8" adds character) This would be easy to paint as the rust is only skin deep. I restore furniture and can do all the metal on this chair for another $65.00.not powder coat) You will like the way it will look.I guarantee it) The seat and back are not wood but vinyl and I might be able to get them looking better.Custom colors are available when buying a refinish job.

This stool has a wonderful rustic quality and is handcrafted by Hunt Country Furniture in Business since 1926. The spindles of the stool back are thru tennoned in the top rail and the leg ends are also tennoned through the stool seat. The leg stretchers are all pegged in place through the legs and the legs. Spindles, and ... moretop rail are all hand chamfered. The seat is Pine and everything else is Oak or Ash. Condition Good Pre-owned with use and wear including some stable cracks to the pine seat located on the top and bottom which are distinct from one another and do not meet. The leg ends protrude slightly above the seat where they are thru tenoned. The seat has finish wear and scratches with a small saw mark on the left side middle of the seat(viewed from the front where the seat narrows) And there is some green paint on a leg as pictured. The first letter in the company name is unclear-the stamp is very dusty and a good cleaning may improve the quality of that first letter. A local historian believes the name was'HIX' and reports that it was an above average. Quality furniture store that had closed by the early'40s. There's a ship's anchor painted on each side. The flower stand is a particularly good piece. Pictures. Vases and ornaments are of the eighteenth century. A mahogany Sheraton table is used with painted beechwood Sheraton chairs and a bureau, desk and tilt top table of the time. The last picture shows a display of rosewood furniture made in 1850 for the Chicago parlor of William H. Brown, loaned by his granddaughter. The chair upholstering and draperies are of green brocade and the table cover is scarlet broadcloth embroidered in gold.
