Up for bid is this stunning quartersawn oak mantel shelf or mantel top from. I believe an overmantel. The piece is approximately 5 2-3/4" in length or width x 10" deep x 5" high. Hollowed o ut or opened in the back makes for some nice hidden storage. Beautiful quartersawn oak grain patterns set this gem off like no other and will grace any room it's used in. Pair it up with a few columns of the same wood and grain patterns and make it back into a mantel. Leave it as is. Other than cleaning it up, add a few hidden hangers and you'll have a very nice shelf as well as a hidden compartment piece to add to any room. This Berkey& Gay dining set consists of a 3-leaf table. 8 chairs, 1 china hutch, 1 buffet and 1 sideboard. It is made of walnut, with many sections being bookmatched figured walnut- absolutely beautiful. All pieces are matching, and feature the metal medallion used in Berkey& Gay's furniture from the 1920's-1940's. Our best guess is that these pieces were made in the 20's. They're in excellent condition for this vintage. You'll see some very slight damage, shown in the last 4 photos. The table is pictured with only 2 leaves in place, the 3rd is leaning against the wall near the china hutch. The Berkey and Gay furniture Company of Grand Rapids. Michigan, became one of the leading nineteenth century furniture manufacturers in America. Furniture in the Gothic Revival and Eastlake styles by Berkey and Gay became ... morewell known for their high quality, and two Neo Grec chamber suites by Berkey and Gay won recognition of high merit at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition. The Berkey& Gay Furniture Company used three different types of labels to mark the furniture that they manufactured. The first label was branded into the wood and can often be found inside the drawers of the Berkey& Gay case pieces. Around the year 1900 the branded type label was replaced by a paper label. The brass label was used starting around the 1920's until Berkey and Gay went out of business in the 1940's. Please note that it is not uncommon to find both brass and paper labels used during the same era. Especially on dining room suites where the Berkey& Gay paper labels were quite often used to mark the dining chairs. Another one of my estate sale Relics. The legs came off a old tavern table. The ends have been cut off.And i saved what was good. I have a 4 ft x 8ft pile of furniture parts that i am going thru. I am salvaging what i can and listing these this week. What is left of the legs measures approx 19in long with a 2 5/16ths x 2 5/16ths in boxed end,and a 2in round end. The boxed portion has a 1/4in wide x 1 3/4in slot where the tendons use to hold the table together. There are a few patches of thick paint but for the most part the legs are bare,and the remaining paint should scrape right off. Both of the ends have been cut off,and when i cut them i made them both the same size. These are solid stock,and they look like maple i can't tell by the end grain,so i can't say for sure. Antique set of 4 cast iron furniture casters 1.75" wheels hardware lot
This is a matched set of 4 cast iron furniture casters. The wheels are 1- 3/4" in diameter. The tapered shanks are 2- 3/4" long and just about 1/2" in diameter at the base. These will raise a piece by 2 inches. The casters roll freely. They have some surface rust, and they are not bent or otherwise damaged. It would date back to the late 1800's and this stately piece is unusual because it steps back with a nice ledge and has 3 drawers. the surface is old white paint with the doors shabby craped down to the older green color. It really has a great LOOK! I like it with the doors open for displaying my collectibles. It is 77.5" tall x 50" wide at that middle shelf. The shelf is 9.5" out which is more than most stepback cupboards. At that area it is 22" out from the wall. It has been used as you can see with a mouse hole here and there. This secretary came from an old Bank of America building in north jersey dating back to the early 1900s. Company information In 1915 the New York headquartered Erskine-Danforth Corporation opened a factory at 490 Pacific Street for the manufacture of Danersk furniture and home accessories. Danersk furniture was previously crafted in North Carolina until for economic and growth reasons the company moved operations and practically its entire staff to Stamford.
