This rare art form is still accomplished today in a studio in China where talented and patient artists paint designs created by North American and English artists in blown glass ornaments of various shapes and sizes. Great contrast with the rosewood looking case and the gold colored door. The door is still attached to the case by the hinges and door latch operates. Great looking case and all there. No markings on the bottom of the case to note. There is a very nice Seth Thomas paper label inside of the case. The wood legs that extend from the case are all in place. No cracking or repairs. ... moreThe six metal trim pieces are on the front sides of the clock as well with great detailing on them as well. Beautiful painted tin clock face as well. There is some flaking of the paint going on. At the top of the clock face it says. Manufactured in the United States of America" and then, Seth Thomas in the middle of the clock face. The wood door is firmly attached to the case by the hinges and has the one piece of flat glass in it and then the reverse painted glass in the bottom. Both pieces of glass are not blistered or cracked. There certainly is some minor surface scratching on the glass. The reverse painting is of a bird, appears to be a Robin in the grass. The clock strikes strikes the hours on the hour. Nice sound to the strike on this clock. But does seem to strike very quickly, so needs some adjustment. This clock is in running and striking condition. The clock stands 15-3/8" tall. By 11.75" across, by 4.5" wide. Both springs feel sound when keyed. The clock will come with a newer winding key. Vintage reverse painted artwork made in Italy- Hollywood Regency style. Ornate octagon frame made of carved or pressed wood with fabulous scroll and flower details. Deep sculpted frame covered with gold gilding which has been whitewashed and has natural areas of distress. Stamped on the back"Made in Italy" and has a paper label which reads"W M 198. Tiny round hanger is shaped like an Olympian crown of leaves. Frame measures approximately 10" across. Three golden haired cherubs resting on rocks are reverse painted on single piece of octagonally shaped glass. Beautiful detailed painting has bright metallic gold tone paint used on cherub's hair. Wings and long grass. Two photographs above show back of glass where paint is; one shows paint with particals in it, the other photo is taken so you can"see" through ... morethe paint. Do not know if the black line illustration was printed on glass or hand created/copied- the colored areas and background are painted by hand. Top edge of painting has straight line of scuff marks on painted side(seen in last photograph above) That area of painting is usually under the frame edge and not easily seen. Painted side of glass shows stripes which do not show through to front. Stripes were caused by cardboard resting against painted area for years. Acid free paper has been added between painted side of glass and cardboard to protect painting. There are two small scratches on unpainted side of glass. This pair of reverse painted pull-down calendars for A.J. ZOLLARS CARPENTER& BUILDER PHONE 84-R 4 RD#2. WAYNESBURG, PA measure 4 5/8" x 5 5/8" x 1/2" One is in very good condition. The other has bending to the back and is missing the calendar. Existing calendar has all twelve months. Both are the same, with glass fronts& clear plastic frames. Both hanging tabs intact. Little surface scratching to face, some around edges. Eight plastic securing tabs on back of frames intact on both calendars. No musty odor, this is a non-smoking environment. Thanks for looking.

Primitive art as reverse painting on glass with tempera-type water-based paints, was done by people in Czechoslovakia and E. Bavaria. Glass production was important to the area. Religious fervor fueled many of the pieces, often copied from art found in their churches. See picture#5 for more history and technique description. This piece measures 12 3/4" high by 10 3/4" wide and about 1" deep. The painting is in very fine condition with a minor flaw or two. 1920s MOE BRIDGES GLASS LAMP WITH REVERSE PAINTING AND CAST IRON BASE
This 1920's lamp is marked Moe-Bridges Milwaukee on the base. It stands about 12" high with a cast iron base. The shade is reverse painted with a rose-colored background reminiscent of sunset when the lamp is lit. It has a country scene with farm house nestled amongst trees and wood fence. There are some areas where the rose colored background has faded leaving small spots in areas which I have tried to photograph. So please examine the pictures carefully. There are no chips or cracks to the glass, although the rim feels rough to the fingertips.

This is a beautiful reverse painting and mirror. It measures 20.5 inches by 11.25 inches. The painting itself measures 7 inches by 8 inches. On the back side of the mirror it is printed in a oval shape: A. Ramsey& Son Montreal 1896. The colors are still vivid. There are 3 spots where the veneer on the frame has split(with one repair) but it doesn't detract from it's sense of presence. The backing of the mirror is in excellent condition- there are only a few tiny spots where the backing is missing. There is a wooden piece on the back holding the mirror in; it looks original. Works Perfectly This is definitely not my area of much knowledge but this is a great little light standing 13" and weighing around 3# A couple people told me at the auction where I got it that they would date it in the 1920's. It shows off very well when turned on as shown in the first picture. As you can see in the pictures all the parts including the cord and the plug are original. The reverse painting is of trees and what appears to be a sunset. I have no idea of the value of this great little lamp so I am going to start it off with a low reserve. Very nice small reverse glass painting showing Mary Dolorosa(with the heart of Jesus) The picture could have been a Ex Voto image from someone whose prayers might have been fullfilled. The painting is framed in a 7 inch by 6 inch clean new wooden frame. There are no cracks or chips and the painting is in clean condition. Some paint seems to be missing in some very minor spots. Hello Folks. Today we have an antique reverse painting Pairpoint glass shade. This is a yellow glass shade with a reverse painting of parrots all around it. The reverse painting of the parrots stand out in a puffy design, please see pics. This antique shade is in very good condition for its age, and is an excellent find to replace a broken or missing shade for your Pairpoint lamp. It measures 5 5/8" high with a diameter of 7 1/2" It does have a few imperfections due to its age, so please see close up pics of these. It has a rough bottom edge, with 1 tiny chip, and a short crack in the fitter flange, but it does not extend into the shade area, see close up pic.
