The original owners were from Germany and the brand logo is marked on the analog section of the clock below the dial. It is huge in size and is still very clean and original in every parts. Even the spare numbers are still intact in the reserved casing to change the numbers for the years on the top. Working days are in black, Saturdays are green and Sundays are red. A double bell chime and a windable'schwebegang' or floating movement and is in excellent condition. No damages. The advantage of this type of movement is that it doesn't need a horizontal position. The clock has brass side ornaments. Brass hinges, 4 brass claw shaped feet, 4 brass finials on top and a brass handle. There are lovely crafted real glas side panels. This carbon steel beauty is lightning fast and yet substantial enough for the expert dispatch of any challenge your kitchen can present. Stamped, JAPAN, ROCO, it's found here in a nice larger size(it's 17.5" long w/ 12-1/8" blade) yet handles like a much smaller piece, still beautifully balanced in the hand for executing the most demanding and delicate chopping, dicing, and slicing tasks-very sharp and ready to amaze you with its performance. These knives have an interesting history. In the decades immediately following WW2. Japanese companies did anything and everything to get back on their feet, producing consumer goods for export to the USA as much as possible, to bring hard U.S. currency home. Many companies in the cutlery business, faced ... morewith starvation, often produced superior quality goods at prices that would've previously been impossible, owing to the weak yen and the great abundance in Japan of highly-skilled labor who were willing to work for survival wages. The result for some was that they had to produce INCREDIBLY fine knives to compete with often shabbier American-made products at the same prices. Very lightly used and hung in a smoke free house and closet for the rest of its years. It is in excellent condition still smelling of rich deep leather. It is so soft to the touch you would think it had just been tanned. The entire jacket has lightly quilted lining and shows no sign of frays or wear. Double reinforced stitching throughout is still like new. Jacket zippers up front with a heavy duty zipper and metal snap which encloses its high collar. The snap is really the only thing that shows any wear as the brass is kind of tarnished from age) even though still tightly snaps. Lining does not zipper out.
