Lovely Vintage Russian Orthodox Enameled Saint George Brass Plaque
A very nice piece. This plaque appears to be of a man on a horse slaying a beast. Given the highly stylized nature of the art. I'm not entirely sure what it's depicting, but looking up similar pieces leads me to believe it's art of Saint George slaying a dragon. The piece is in good condition. And appears to be heavy brass or copper with enamel painted on it. The markings on the top are, I assume, cyrillic, and I cannot read them. The plaque is just under three inches(7 CM) from the small piece on the top to the base. And weighs around two ounces. A lovely. Stylish piece. This listing was made by the family of Karen Doreen Hartsoe Koontz. Whose Franciscan order name was Sister Luke Panteleimon. Sister Luke passed away on 8/24/2013. From liver failure. She was 55. While it would never even occur to us to sell the things she valued. ... moreMuch of what she left behind was simple stock-only a simple rosewood rosary and a few other objects meant anything of significance to her personally. Antique St Antoine Padoue Agate Copper Brass Plaque Saint Anthony Catholic Icon
This beautiful. Old wall hanging plaque was purchased from an antique store and is sold as found. It measures 7" x 3 3/4" The backing is brass. I believe the stone to be agate, but not certain. The image is engraved silver-plate on copper. The silver-plate has aged patina and wear, exposing the copper. It is very ornate, marked: St Antoine de Padoue and is artist signed in lower right corner(as seen in photos) The light green stone has breakage, cracks all the way through, chips, natural imperfections, etc. The brass backing also has tarnished/aged patina, wear, scratches, etc. It appears to have had a stand that has been broken off. Up for bids is a beautiful rare antique christian religious plaque of Saint George battling the serpent/ dragon. Looks like a gilded relief prayer card. It was purchased at an antique store in Greece. It has Greek lettering imprinted. It is about 5" x 7" by 1" deep and heavy. It appears silver in colour but the metal is unknown.
