Soft paste Porcelain Putto symbolic of Spring(one of the Four Seasons) with applied leaves. Florets with egg yellow& black centers, braided hair and minimal additional enameled decoration on a plain base with very minor damage and dating from the late 1750s or 1760s(for full details, continue reading below) Welcome to a mid-winter February Special Sale Listing and. enjoy! ITEM DETAILS: Wonderful early English porcelain figurine of a female child with braided hair carrying a basket of flowers on a simple base adorned with leaves and flower heads(symbolic of Spring in a four seasons theme) The young person is leaning against a short tree stump and wearing puce and soft blue drape around her left hip. The figurine is well painted with her brown hair finely detailed to accent her long braid formed into a circle and ending in a tight knot(see ... moreclose-up photo) Her brown hair is not painted with a brush but instead scratched with a fine needle to remove some coloring so that one can see both individual strands and braiding. Her face is also expertly painted with her eyebrows again painted with a single hair as a brush and painted in brown and made from placing 12 to 15 short curving brush strokes each. Her eyes have black pupils set within brown irises and each also has a small red tear duct in the corner. The girls nose has her nostrils outlined in light brown and her lips are colored blood red. Other details include small applied flowers with six pedals and bright yellow(egg yellow) centers topped with a tiny dark blackish-brown dot. Other important characteristics include two distinct shades of green on the applied leaves: a common green(translucent grassy green) and a bluish-green(weak turquoise green) Some of the iron red flowers were painted using a fine single hair brush and taking 25 to 30 individual brush strokes. Up for auction is this older(circa 1980) Hardy Bros 3 5/8 inch# 8/9 multiplier fly reel in decent condition throughout retaining approximately 98% of the grey finish on the frame. The spare frame is also in decent condition other than some rubs here and there(see pics) Engraved on the back of the reel is“Marquis# 8/9” and“Made By Hardy Bros Ltd England” The multiplying unit has a quick drum release latch and a single ebonite handle mounted to it. It has a short smooth alloy foot and the drag control knob is located on the back of the reel. Included is the original Hardy box. LOVELY DECORATIVE VINTAGE WOODEN BOX 7.7 by 5 inch
This is a really nice old decorative wooden box measuring approx.7.7 by 4.9 inches and 2.4 inches in height.The box has a lovely colour and patina and inside there is a section in the back half consisting of approx 70 small shallow square holes.On the inner lid there is the remains of a paper label.I think the box may have been used to store some form of die stamp or similar. The box is in pretty good condition[ wear and scratching commensurate with age and use] and probably dates to the early 1900s.The front of the box has a brass clasp[no catch] This lovely old decorative wooden box would grace any collection or sit very well in any period or contemporary setting. Lot/2 Vintage Pump Oilers: Golden Rod "Red Top" 4 inch" & Eagle Eaglet #58 5 oz
I didn't go to great lengths to clean these two. But they are empty and non-greasy. I also almost didn't list them as I find the size and capacity very convenient, much better than the giants I have in my shop. The Golden Rod, mfd. by Dutton-Lainson Co. measures 4 1/2" tall with a 4 1/4 inch spout. The can is aluminum. The Eaglet is 4" tall and has a 4 1/2" spout. It's not aluminum. When taking them apart I also lubricated the handle assemblies which were sticky and made sure that both worked. Gaskets are good, too. The Golden Rod has one sharp dent near the top and a number of smaller ones all over. The Eaglet is missing some of its graphics, but there are no dents anywhere. For this item. Bacon 4-string banjo. 11-inch head, 21.5-inch scale Really nice all original banjo by the Bacon Banjo Co. Made in Groton. Connecticut. Inside. The dowel stick is marked with the Bacon Banjo Co. with the serial number 21869 stamped on the tone ring inside. 24 brackets, all original. On the inside back of the resonator cover is a paper label which reads: B&D Resonance Amplifying Chamber, patented Nov. 30, 1926, The Bacon Banjo Co, Inc. Groton. Conn. USA” The banjo has non geared friction gear heads. Nice pearl button inlay on neck, armrest and 3-legged bridge. The banjo is 31-inches overall length, 2.75-inches thick, 17 frets, 11-inch head(skin, original) and a 21-5-inch scale. The neck is 1-1/8-inch at first fret and 1-5/8 inch at 12th fret. Fast neck, bright sound, solid, one-piece walnut(I believe) resonator.
