A Pair of China Aesthetic Movement Comports or Tazzas-Bird Motif
A beautiful pair of China Comports with striking designs in the Japanese style adopted during the Aesthetic Movement. Each piece has a Turquoise band of colour across it with a foreground motif of birds and foliage. The designs are drawn out in black with added colouring and are also highlighting in gold. As well as having bands of gold around the rims and outlining the turquoise band. I do not think these are English and assume they are Continental, but have no idea of what the birds are meant to be, which would have helped. Someone has suggested that the large bird with the horizontal turquoise band might be a Kookaburra. If so, could this mean they are Australian or made for Australia? The bases, which have been attached to the top, have the same leaf pattern on them, but have a different position for the turquoise band across them. I love the special design elements such as the asymmetrical top and the Art Nouveau influences in the carvings of tulips and leaves. The spiral tops remind me a bit of Gaudi. As they are quite whimsical. It is rather large, measuring approx. 76" h x 42" w x 21 1/2" d. I believe the glass has been replaced, but this is how I purchased the item. ASTHETIC MOVEMENT EXPENSIVE MARBLE LONGWY TILES CLOCK BY SHREVE CRUMP & LOW
This is a Late 19th Century aesthetic movement BLACK Marble 8 day time and strike French Mantle/Slate Clock C. 1880s which needs just a little help. The timepiece is patterned with four beautiful Longwy tiles or plaques both above the face and below the face. This clock could be hung on a wall it is that beautiful. On the left and right you have what appear to be shelves that could be used to hold something. The dial is original and carries one of the finest retail stores names in the US. Shreve Crump& Low. They were competitors and in the same class with Tiffany's and other top Retail Jewelry stores like Black Starr& Frost, Bigelow& Kennard, Bailey Banks& Biddle etc. The clock is French and it works right along however cosmetically The clock needs some help but is easily restorable. First it needs a cleaning it is quite ... moredirty. As pictured there are some minor broken Marble pieces at the top back of the clock but they can be cut down so that you'd never know. You then would have a beautiful clock needing no restoration. Looking at the picture above of the back of the clock One needs to bring down a stub of Marble sticking up on the left side which holds a finial which I have. I would just take that stub off and even that out. That is a small job to do to make this clock very presentable. This was a costly item at its time and so very apparent in its manufacture, its look, its functionality, and the ceramic Longwy plaques which go a very long way(no pun) in beautifying this Clock. Pictured on the plaques are Flowers, Birds, A Catfish above a Crab and more Flowers and Birds. I find no other damages other then some cleaning that needs to be done. This is one Handsome timepiece housed in Black Slate or Marble. A little help and voila One heck of a Clock. Nice 19th C Aesthetic Movement wash basin in red transfer. The condition is VERY good. There are a few light scratches in the bottom which can only be seen when light in reflected across the surface. One firing crack 2" long in the bottom revealing it's age of at least 130 years old. 14 1/2" x 5" tall. The pattern in Benedick and made by G W Turner& Sons of Tunstall. Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. 1880s TALL AESTHETIC MOVEMENT BRONZE& SILVER VASE Presented is a very fine Aesthetic Movement silver and red patinated bronze vase. The vase is in the shape of an amphora and is held upright in a heavy silver plate stand with claw feet on a square base. The front of the vase is mounted with a beautifully cast relief sculpture depicting a lion emerging from a thicket of ivy or grape leaves. The shoulder of the vase is decorated with a fine silverplate collar with vertical ribbing. The rim of the vase has an elegant shell and scroll border. The inside of the vase has a removable insert. So that the vase can hold a bouquet of fresh flowers. This was likely made Pairpoint Manufacturing Company around the 1880s. The vase does disassemble. And we will definitely ship this ... moredisassembled, depending on your location. It is very easy to reassemble. Even if you are not mechanically incline. The overall condition is excellent. The vase and the mountings are in great shape. Most of the patina is still there. Let the photos be your guide. The silver plating is in good shape. There are some small dents here and there to the red portion of the vase, on the side and back. These are minor, and will not be seen if the vase is positioned against a wall. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no other dents, no monograms, no monogram removals and no repairs to the vase itself. The vase measures about 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches square at the base. This is a terrific Aesthetic Movement design silverplate mug. It has an unused cartouche on the front for a name of monogram to be engraved. It is decorated with Japanese inspired foliage and patterns that stretch around the sides. It has the mark of Meridan Silver Co. Quadruple Plate on the base. The inside is rough with wear to the interior but the external surface is great with a little wear to the silver on the cup opposite or behind the handle where fingers would have rubbed it but nothing that affects the pattern or design. It is 3& 5/8" tall.

Antique Aesthetic Movement Brown Transferware E.M. & Co Sugar/Creamer! SUPER!
This auction is for a very very old British transferware Aesthetic Movement cream and sugar. The mark intrigued me with the dog and the E.M. Co. banner plus the old registration mark. The sugar is about 6 1/4" in height and 5 1/2" from outside handle edge to outside handle edge. The handle on one side has. At one point, been groken and reglued and there is the common light staining and spotting associated with this very very old pottery. There is a line about 1/2" or so long in the middle of the piece right under the greek key type border. This line does go clear through to the inside and appears to be a spider on the inside of the piece. As collectors know, this piece can be soaked in 40% peroxide(beauty supply store, liquid only-not gel) and the staining will soak out. There is no other damage that we can so. The creamer ... morealso looks like the top of the handle has been broken, but I believe, after looking at both handles, that they were attached to the piece and maybe the attachment spot is just splitting a little. There are no chips or cracks on the creamer that I can see. The creamer is about 4 1/2" tall. The band of transferware depicts leaves and twigs as well as bird and gree key type borders with a wider border under the largest band of decoration that has half a flower and a leaf alternating completely around each piece. Vintage Italian Florentine Gold Gilt Frame Wall Hanging with three porcelian cabs depicting 18th century scenes with beautiful ornate detailing to frame and transfers. Three porcelain cabs. 2@ 4-1/4" on each end and middle one measures 6-3/4" in diameter. All have ornate style metal design and are all mounted on Black Velvet set into Ornate Gilt frame to hang on the wall. Frame measures 26 1/4" x 10 1/4" and shows discoloring on back right top and top right front. Also a chip on front top left corner and bottom right corner on the frame. Paint on frame is in OK"antique" condition and has brown paper that covers the back and stamped numbers at the bottom. The romantic style full color transfers depict courting rituals in a 16th/ 17th century setting. A beautiful example of Aesthetic Movement Pottery in the late 1880s Victorian Jackfield-style Pitcher Aesthetic Movement'Palm' Jackfield-style pottery from England. Late 1800's. Polychrome& gilt detailed designs of birds. Bamboo shoots, cattails& geometric panels& bands. The base is marked with the pattern name. Palms" Made in England, and Rd. No. 140614(corresponding to 1889) Pitcher has a few light scratches to the glaze. Some enamel loss on the palm leaves, wear on some of the beads. Small chip on handle(see picture) Lid appears to be made of pewter. Measurements: approx. 7-1/2" tall. And just over 4-1/4" in diameter at the base. A superb example of the Aesthetic style popular in the late 1880's!

It is a beautifully done enamel on bronze. Copper or brass( in an oval medallion shape. Picture of a nude woman sitting on a rock with her feet in the water below and nestled among palm trees. Nice coloring and clarity to say the least- exquisitely done and just beautiful! Back is enameled in a solid blue color. Done on metal- don't know if it is copper or brass. Has a little loop on top for displaying. The consignee does not know what it is or what it was used for. But remembers their mom telling them is was always in Grandma's curio cabinet. Measures approx. 3 1/2" tall by 2 1/2" wide. Their is a hallmark near her foot to the left side ... moreof the oval. We found no chips. Cracks, or repairs, but did find some scratches on her mid section- belly portion and also near the bottom of her purple garment near her foot. Sand casted, and problably made special for one of this society's prominate secret members.It was a buckle for a sword belt.The buckle is about 2 inches by 3 inches.the inner holder has about a 1/2 inches opening by 1 3/4 inches.Its in good condition with a nice patina and some slight green oxidation on the buckle part on its bachside.It appears to be made from brass but has a strong color of copper as well.I also notice some slight red color stained over time on its back which I believe was the color of belts they used. RARE 1883 GILDEA WALKER JAPAN PATTERN POLYCHROME AESTHETIC PLATTER TRAY VG NR
Sorry. But due to eBay policies, I will not ship internationally- U.S.A only! Very rare platter/tray/serving plate from Gildea& Walker. Burslem, Staffordshire, England, in the'Japan' pattern. This company was only in existence from 1881-1885. You never see this pattern, and it is not shown on the Replacements website. It is in good condition for its' age, with very few problems. On the front there is overall fine crazing and wear marks, consistent with age, and a tiny light brown spot to the right of the water lily. There is crazing with some discoloration on the reverse, with a 3/8" x 1/4" backside edge chip, and a couple minor rough spots with darkening on the rim. Really not bad for 130 years old. The top mark on the back shows the'Japan' pattern name, G.W. and'Late Mayers' The registration mark ... moredates it to Feb. 1883. Impressed marks are'Gildea& Walker, Ivory' and'83' for the year of manufacture. It is 13" long, 10-1/4" wide, and sits 1-1/2" high. I will not close my auctions early, or change to'buy it now' so please don't ask. Please email for more pics or information. I offer a full refund if not satisfied. Late Victorian Aesthetic Movement Blue and White Plate by Brownfield of Christopher Dresser Design This is a blue and white transfer printed bone china plate with a gilt rim. It was made by Brownfield and is marked to the back as shown- Impressed BROWNFIELD and 1/79- indicating the month and year of manufacture as January 1879. The impressed marks are not easy to see- you have to hold the plate up to a light. The stylised form of the birds can be attributed to Dr. Christopher Dresser on the basis of other designs he produced- See the book Christopher Dresser by Stuart Durant for a picture of a watercolour design by Dresser for Minton. Page 106, also Dresser, by Widar Halen for another design by Dresser this time for a Minton tile- page 135 fig 153. The present plate would seem to be a combination of the two designs. Registered number 176884 impressed on the base with the Ault factory mark. Modelled as a flower bud, covered in running bright turquoise and green majolica glazes, it stands 3 1/4" high, 3 3/4" diameter at the rim, 4 1/2" at its widest. The English Registry mark on the back dates it exactly to May 14, 1878. This was during the"Aesthetic Movement" when there was heavy influence from Asian design. The bowl measures 8 3/4" in diameter. The sides are 1 1/4" high. The decoration is essentially brown transferware that has been hand colored with various colors of paint. There are no chips. Vintage Porcelain Charger/ Large Decorative Plate medieval/ Pre-Raphaelite motif with knight& lady This large and attractive piece is 13 3/8" across and 1 7/8" tall. It weighs a bit more than 2 1/2 pounds. The charger is decorated with a stencil process with some hand painting. The porcelain blank was made by the Limoges firm of Gerard. Dufraissein, and Abbot(GDA) The charger is free of chips. Cracks, crazing, or repairs. There are a very few short, faint scratches, or stencil flaw lines on the scene, the most noticeable being on the faces. There is very slight rubbing on the raised points of the gold trim above the border cartouches. There is also a 1/16" pit on the underside edge, which appears to be an artifact of the manufacturing process. Any white blotches in the photos are reflections. Here we have a pair(2) mid 19th. Century English made 9" cabinet plates with Japanese Aesthetic Movement design. I recently had these researched and appraised by Worthpoint. And while they were unable to identify the actual maker. These porcelain plates have been attributed to either Minton or Coalport. They were sold by the London retailer A.B. Daniell and Son at 46 Wigmore Street.The gold back stamp identifies dates of sale from 1865-1875 only. These were expensive even then and only afforded by the upper class. Porcelain plates are transfers with real gold hand painted accents. Center figures are exquisitely painted with great detail to faces and kimonos. Antique SILVERPLATE Footed SHELL BOWL Aesthetic VICTORIAN G. Weeton Ltd
This antique silverplate berry bowl is an aesthetic style with a shell shape. Ornate three foot base with a shalloped dot edge rim. It is a pewter or britannia base silver color metal plated with silver. I did not attempt to polish this, it is over 100 years old and does have a rich aged patina. I think it will have silverplate wear once it is polished especially inside the bowl, so I will leave it up to you to polish or not. The bowl is 8 1/2" diameter 3 1/2" high, marked G. 1800'S CLARKE FAIRY PYRAMID CUT GLASS BASE RARE MARKED w GLOBE
The two bases have the fairy in them. The smaller one, 2 7/8" across the top 1 1/2" tall, is marked S. Clarke Fairy Pyramid, the larger base( 3 1/2" across the top, 2 1/2" tall) is marked with a Fairy above a crown, the 3" tall 3" wide center globe is unmarked, but seems to fit the larger piece well. All free from any breaks or cracks, some flea bites along the edges of the top and bottom globe.
